It's been a long time since I've used a 48. We can't find the old TDS software with SurveyLink to download raw files from the 48. What other programs are you guys using to download from your 48?

I used to use the old DOS based TFR program to download with the serial cable. I have the old program somewhere, but can't seem to find it at the moment.

EDIT: I found it. Shoot me an email at the address in my profile, and I'll reply with the files attached. It is several files that you place in a directory in the C:. I just used to run them from the command prompt

I have one of those that I use as a paper weight. The survey card and memory cards add some extra weight. 🙂

I have a brand new copy of Foresight DXM from TDS that I won at the TSPS Auction a hundred years ago. In original box and sealed software envelope containing CD and hardware lock. Might put it on eBay if nobody wants it.

Carlson has a menu that lets you brings the data straight in. Also connects with many other data collectors. Under the survey tab, and choose data collectors.

I still use an HP-48 with SMI and yes it downloads into Carlson 2006 via a 9 pin serial cable. Still works great. Dzign still writes cogo software for the 48.

Jeepers! Looks like the HP-48 software has been dropped they just list the HP-50 and HP-33.

NYLS, You should check out the newer hp41cx. It has more memory, and more features built in.

All of my surveying software would download them. PacSoft did great and so does Carlson Survey 2008. While I don't use them anymore, some of the other surveyors we sometimes get to contract for us do, and I download their data very easily with them.

What software are you using?

Using Carlson 2009. I haven't been able to get them to communicate yet. Not sure what the issue is.

EDIT: Working now. Thanks Jimmy.

As you can see, the General Kermit Transfer is already in there (although this is 2008). Click on the TDS button under Survey and Data collectors and it should look something like this. Then the settings are Com 1 (this may be a problem if you have nothing but USB ports and you'll have to rename one to COM1), parity none and baud rate 9600. Check the 48 to make sure it's the same and should work.
