I almost killed my helper yesterday. It was only in the lower 90s. These kids are soft. I worked in the same heat pulling tobacco for $25/day 5th grade through 12th grade. Get out of the AC once in a while and experience life. Its wonderful.
"We're building a new road. Right through here." Says the PLS while pointing at the house of the man who has 100 questions.
I think thats probably the main reason I dont want to accept a job in the US. And certainly not the UK or Europe. I like our weather too much.
Winter (as it is now and has been the coldest few days so far) its 16C (61F) with 29% humidity and when summer rolls along it gets to about 38C (100F) and humidity might go to about 70% but mostly in the 50s. Other parts of the country (like Durban and the Krugerpark) has that massive humidity which is awful. Haye working there
But our base area has the best weather in the world. Everyday is a nice field day

I hate heat. Heat + humidity is worse. It just sucks the energy out of me. When I start getting dizzy and my vision starts graying out I get a bit concerned. I think of my Dad, who picked cotton in Tucson, AZ for $1.00/100 pounds. He said he could almost pick 100 pounds in a 10 hr. day. I feel like like a wimp and suck it up and keep going...
Well, Florida does only have two seasons.
Summer and Christmas.

Give me winter, I will happily walk from my car to the office exclaiming how wonderful winter is:p
I will have to admit though, I'm not fond of shoveling snow any more (never was actually).
I've been riding my mountain bike from my apartment to the office and back. Thankfully my commute is about 490 feet from front door to front door.
It's 103å¡ right now but, like my oven, it's a dry heat.
I can remember my early days, slope staking a road widening. We were running a 4 man crew and had staked about a half mile. It was about 11 o'clock and 110 in the shade with no wind. That was in the days with guineas, stakes, lath, 3# sledge, bob, tape and a self reading rod. I had to much coffee in the morning and not enough water. I was about to pass out, so I called the party chief on the radio and told him I needed a break. No problem, I think the instrument man and him wanted a break, but did not want to look weak in front of the chainmen. Need to stay hydrated in the heat. I would still take that job over trying to drive PK's into frozen AC.

and thinking about giving up smoking so I don't have to go brave that nasty sauna.
You know you don't have to wear the long underwear anymore, for a few months. 😀

C'mon now, we all know long underwear is for wimps 😀
I think it's called having a pulse 😮
It can't come soon enough o_O

What are you complaining about? You have the prevailing south easterly sea breeze that blows all the way to Wellington. The heat doesn't bother me, it's when it's too cold NOT to wear a t-shirt and gym shorts as daily attire that aggravates me. 😉

That south easterly breeze has been absent for 2 weeks. Prevailing south west winds is more like it, all the way from Wellington to the beach! I hear ya on the cold though, I would choose this weather over consistent 40's...

Is Weather Station ID: IBAJACAL51 your PWS on WunderMap?
nope not mine, that station is run by another expat that lives about a half mile up the beach. I never met the guy but did exchange emails a couple times.
I really would like to set one up, my home is ideal as my roof is above the influences of the neighboring houses, but they run $500 or more. Maybe next year.

Down here in South Florida we've been under heat advisories the past couple days and the mercury just keeps rising! And it's not even close to the hottest place in the country! You Arizona and surrounding area guys must not work until 10 o' clock at night. Here is 95å¡F in the shade with realfeels in 105 - 110. Not complaining, just saying! It's damn hot!
But not in the truck! LOL
Some surveyors don't know how to hydrate themselves properly. I learned that the hard way many years ago. I was drinking iced tea, nothing else. Wound up in the hospital with heat exhaustion.
