Hope you guys have all been taking the proper precautions out there. Down here in South Florida we've been under heat advisories the past couple days and the mercury just keeps rising! And it's not even close to the hottest place in the country! You Arizona and surrounding area guys must not work until 10 o' clock at night. Here is 95å¡F in the shade with realfeels in 105 - 110. Not complaining, just saying! It's damn hot!

But not in the truck! LOL

Yup. Today's real temp was around 95 but the heat index was up to 110. Fortunately for me, we had already cancelled field work for today and tomorrow. But, it's still going to be a killer on Thursday and Friday.

Long day in a shopping center with reflectorless on the buildings, high 104. Used up all my water and Gatorade, plus a 44-ounce drink from Circle K. I was determined to finish so I could stay home tomorrow and work on the drawing. I had done the boundary, curbs, parking stripes, etc. with GPS on Saturday and Monday. I'll be glad to shove this one out the door.

ps It isn't a dry heat - this is monsoon season.

Yeah, I have no idea what "dry heat" is, lol, I'm from S. FL and you need an aqua lung just to breathe down here in the summer. Been a scorcher for sure, and w/dew points in the mid 70's, that makes life miserable. Be safe out there!

Dry heat, your sweat cools you. Moist heat, (high humidity) and your sweat does not cool you. So, your carcass achieves higher temps.

With the high temps come the opportunity for major weather events, at least here in the center of the country. Storm rolled through last night that was reported to be moving east at 80 mph with 70 mph winds and nickel sized hail. We got a little wind and a little rain but missed the destructive portions.

Please, I am absolutely begging here.... keep your heat to yourselves......

as of a few minutes ago, supposedly 98 "raw", 111 heat index here in wonderful sauna MD.... I am so ready for winter!!!

and thinking about giving up smoking so I don't have to go brave that nasty sauna.

Edit: who in their "right" mind joins a sauna (pretty much on the east coast)? All one has to do is step outside in the summer, and wow, better than any gym sauna!

As of 10:30am in Houma, partly cloudy, 90 degrees, 67% humidity, heat index 100. Not as bad as what we were having last week; the last two weekends were both brutal.

It's just brutal here in AK, to be stuck inside that is.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

Of all the things I miss about Nebraska; I miss the weather the least. That and the bugs. I don't miss those things at all.

We started most days at 7:30 and it would be about 80å¡f and muggy. You'd start a job in a field of tall grass. 1,000's of grasshoppers would be jumping all over everything; including you. If you stood in one spot too long; chiggers would attack. The hearty ones would climb all the way up to your crotch and burrow in. You'd wake up in the middle of the night; scratching yourself until you bled. Or you might get a job in a wooded area; the flies, mosquito and or gnats would be horrendous. It would be 100å¡f, no wind and you would be soaked with sweat. Yep I don't miss that much at all. I do miss the people; the people there are great!

Don't tell anybody, but the weather here is great! And the bugs are almost nonexistent. At least compared the feed lots near Omaha...

Jim:
On July 1st we had 1.3" in my rain gauge. This was the first moisture we've had for quite a while. There have been some rains scattered around the area, but never had any here.

Ain't that the truth. Air so thick you could swim through it!
