Me: Yes ma'am I'm gonna have to do a full survey.
Caller: But I have the "plaque" from the courthouse and I only need one line staked & I don't wanna pay for a new survey.
Me: About that "plaque".?ÿ
?ÿ
Run Forrest, run!?ÿ ?????ÿ
Excuse me, you mispronounced "plague"
Yup.?ÿ Forrest, you need to RUN!
She already said the magic words, "I don't wanna pay".
When some phone conversations get around to that inevitable "I don't need a survey BUT..."?ÿ I always ask them if they don't need a survey, then why call a surveyor?
One fella told me his pins were already there and he just needed me to find them and dig them up.?ÿ I told him to go buy a pin-finder and a shovel.
been deluged the last couple weeks with people telling me not only exactly what the scope of my work needed to be, but how easy it was.
yesterday i asked a doctor who wanted me to certify his slab location against "the line the neighbors just had surveyed" if he'd do elective surgery on somebody without running a blood panel and a physical first.?ÿ that seemed to drive home the point. if only all the clients were doctors...
@flga-pls-2-2
Am I to assume that the deed and survey leave something to be desired??ÿ ???? ???? ?ÿ
You can be sure I gave her my; "Go call someone else price" and in this case it was very high indeed.
yikes
Let me guess, Artis Robinson??ÿ I've seen some of his "plaques" drawn on brown paper bags.?ÿ To the best of my knowledge he was never licensed but his work was still recorded.?ÿ I hope you DO get this job and can straighten it out for the next owner.?ÿ Having said that I would also hope you get a pile of money for the job.
Andy
"If you have plaque, you should call a doctor not a surveyor."
I told him to go buy a pin-finder and a shovel.
That's certainly more respectful than "go piss up a rope".?ÿ ?ÿ 😉 ?ÿ
gotta love that?ÿ "I don't need a survey"?ÿ?ÿ kinda bs..?ÿ?ÿ
?ÿ
I used to just say, well that's great, but that's all I do, and I have a line of people waiting for me to do their work, so have a nice day.?ÿ Bu-bye!
That is what I should of done on my prior survey.?ÿ ?ÿBut thought is would be a quick and easy and I charged only half as much since I did half the work, right!!???
No idea who its from but from the handwriting on the deed and "plaque" they both appear to be the same so these folks possibly prepared their own deed and "plaque" and North is at the top of the page.
I'm a big fan of the old "Perry Mason" series. In the course of 271 episodes Perry was prevailed upon many times by clients to perform his work in a manner not in keeping with Perry's ways.?ÿ The variety of ways Perry tells them where to get off is instructive. Mostly he just invites them to take their business elsewhere, and they usually climb down.
In Perry's world there were plenty of?ÿ low cost and ethically challenged lawyers competing for business. Yet Perry never wanted for work.?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ
For myself, when a client comes around waving an old survey I usually point them at hiring the surveyor who did it to do whatever supplemental work they want done. More times than not they had already thought of that themselves but the original wasn't available, perhaps due to the passage of time, or not acceptable for one reason or another.?ÿ ?ÿ
