A control monument for the local county dump. The name was pinned on it by one of our surveyors who I ran the rod for yesterday on a settlement monitoring project. It hit me later why he named it Dolly Parton and I thought it was rather witty. The elevation is actually off current NAD83 by 13+ feet. I don't know why but it is the established benchmark for the area.
This dump was featured in survey magazine articles some years ago when the County spent about six weeks searching for and eventually finding the body of a woman whose husband was convicted of killing her and their child. The search was conducted with direction from County employed surveyor Frank Kochevar.
