Just rejected a record set that came in for final review and signature. It had been plotted /printed slightly less than scale. So the trimmed sheets were smaller in dimension than specified by the ARM, and when you slap a scale against it, the scale is off. I emailed them ?ÿand pointed out the deficiencies and asked them to send me a corrected set....

Did you make them write "I will not trim the sheets" one hundred times also? ?????ÿ

The last time I used a scale was in 2001 I think. Scaling in contours for some rough grade on a Home Depot. Ah the memories.?ÿ

@husker796 Iƒ??m the examining land surveyor (contracted- not full time)for a neighboring county. I use it on every survey I review. Itƒ??s not uncommon for me to see the preliminary survey come through with an obviously wrong scale bar/drawing scale, particularly from solo operators who donƒ??t have a 2nd set of eyes in -house to QC/QA their work. Itƒ??s not uncommon to see the preliminary doc come thru mis-plotted, due to the way the drawing is fenced/then plotted. When itƒ??s Mylar/recording time, That crap needs to have been sorted out and corrected.

Are you the *? Maybe...

Will they learn their lesson and plot to the scale they call for? Maybe... 🙂

EDIT: for the record if I was checking said plan set, I'd send it back.

@rankin_file no I get it for sure. It would be nice to have second set of eyes going over my submittals. Just popped in my head remembering the last time I used a scale. Im a blurter. Carry on.

A common cause for a plot not scaling is adobe having ƒ??scale to fitƒ? instead of ƒ??actual size ƒ?? when plotting.

Yup that's a common problem with "electronic" submittals where the actual plot is off by a few percent or maybe 100% if it's been scaled in Adobe PDF.?ÿ The original mylar submittal is definitive when scaling stuff and I'll only measure with a scale if I have it in my hands.?ÿ

Sometimes it's simply a cut and paste error.?ÿ A big one usually.?ÿ The scale shows a scale of 1" = 1000' for a typical lot that is 50' by 100' and takes up most of an 11x17 sheet.
