I just got a new Leica TS 06. It's a nice gun.

When I returned to it the other day from cutting line, I saw that instead of going to sleep in my absence, it was running a slide show.

I find this to be unprofessional, not to mention tacky. Mr. Wild would not approve.

Just wait until it mysteriously appears on your FB feed announcing to the world how much you 'like' it.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

Seriously, there is probably a way to shut that off.

I would think that cycling through a bunch of images would increase power consumption over normal idle. Draining your battery to show you ads seems remarkably uncool to me.

We just had our TS06 serviced, and it came back with our dealers logo on the boot-up screen.

I like the instrument as well.

[SARCASM]Send them an invoice for the amount of time it advertises for them while you are working per month.[/SARCASM]

Actually, I would ask them how to turn it off and then send the invoice if they refuse.

I don't know if they still do it, but there was a run of S6 firmware that would start telling you the instrument needed serviced after a year or whatever period it was. It was nothing but a dummy light and it used to annoy the s*** out of me.

I have that on my S3. Ugh... what a pain. I just click "ok" and go on.

There is a pop up ad on the LS that shows a bunch of ugly son of a guns. Luckily there is a button that you can toggle it not to show again. 😉

I wouldn't say it is unprofessional at all. The MyWorld link that is displayed is a website designed for users to keep up with their equipment, firmware upgrades, resources, tools and manuals in one, easy to use spot. It allows you to view your calibration certificates if uploaded by the service center, participate in additional training, etc. etc. etc.

If you don't like it you can turn it off. Choose "5-Setting", Choose "4" Screen and turn the screensaver off.

***By the way, those directions are found in the manual, which can be found on the aforementioned MyWorld Website under tools > Manuals*** 😉

I opened this thinking that someone had 3D printed some cool logo's to stick on their instrument, saddened to hear it is just a manufacturer using our battery power.
