I am having a lot of trouble recently with my desktop, it is a few years old and starting to "act up".?ÿ

So, I decided to order a new one. Went to Dell, spec'd it out the way I want it, and got to the payment page. It was telling me delivery would be at the end of November???

Is this a common thing now? Are they really that backed up? Yes, they have PCs at Best Buy, Office Depot, etc, but not configured as I want.

Can anyone suggest a good builder of PC's that will provide a quality custom build with prompt delivery?

?ÿ

I suspect supply chain issues related to COVID. Also, I know that there has been a lot of demand for units as people gear up to work from home.

I am sure that is what it is, but I am surprised it is still an issue after 9 months...

I checked a custom builder of PCs, and they also quoted mid November for delivery.?ÿ

According to friends who are in manufacturing (working on the shop floor) most of these places are operating at 25-50% capacity to maintain social distancing/safety. They may be going around the clock, but it's still at a quarter speed, if that.

There is also likely a big backlog of educational orders. School districts and parents have inundated PC manufacturers with requests for laptops to facilitate virtual or hybrid learning. Lots of them (especially the bigger districts) were paralyzed by indecision over the summer and didn't make the final call until right as school was beginning, so there are a lot of unfilled orders still.

I recently ordered a Dell Latitude with custom addons and was told that it would only ship in 45 days. It only took 2 weeks before I received it.?ÿ

Pure coincidence, but my Dell laptop would not boot yesterday in the field when I needed to check some data. Just a blinking cursor. So when I got back to the office I booted from a USB stick, and ran a "repair" function. It fixed it to where it would boot on its own. Then I ran supportassist (a Dell program), and it identified a problem with the hard drive (SSD). It said I still had 7 days left on my warranty, so they are shipping me a new SSD. No interaction with a person required, and then I got an email last night that it shipped.?ÿ

I tried downloading supportassist on to my desktop, each time I get a message that there is no internet, but there is....
