I'm using Carlson Survey 2008 and I am having an issue when I try to move 3D polylines onto my drawing. The polylines (lidar contours) were xrefed from a .shp file and have "true" (I use the term generally)elevations. When I try to move them over to where my "work area" is the elevations change dramatically. I've tried blocks, no blocks, no points in drawing. I have never ran onto this before as we use these lidar contours on alot of our plans. Any comments would be of help.

Have you tried to "copy" them as opposed to "move" them? If so, did that jack up the elevations as well? It it's a few contour lines, you can set the elevation of the contour line, so if it does get ganked up, you can re-set it. I'd try copy though. I love it because it leaves an "unmolested" version unless I gank it up via operator error.

First off, contours should just be 2D polylines at elevation. Not 3D polylines.
Are you using an osnap to move them? If so, the "move" would be 3D depending on the objects that you are snapping to and from.
Try setting osnapz to 1 and then doing your move. Osnapz = 1 means that all "picks" are at elevation zero regardless of the entities elevation.

"Edit" "Clipboard" "Copy" "Paste to original coordinates"

Contours should be 2D at elevation.

Breaklines, meshes, models etc should come in separately from contours.

Nope...these are 3D I didn't make them.....I've tried the copying, nothing else in the drawing has elevations, I've un-set my .crd file and erased all the points there are way too many contours for me to manually change them or assign elevations. Like I've said this is the first time I ran into this and we use these Lidars a good bit. I think I'll try erasing them and call them in again.

If you'd care to send me a copy of your drawing along with the coordinates of the source point and the destination point, I'll take a look and see if I can spot the culprit.

My Carlson 2008 doesn't have PLOYLINES. You might want to try POLYLINES instead.:-)
