I have been using Nitro Pdf reader and writer and it seems to work fine for 11x17 drawings but it keeps messing up on anything larger. Do you smart people know of a Pdf reader and writer that works on bigger dwgs.
The text is all boogered up and wrong. Twisted, rotated, overlapping, etc.
Many of the large format printing problems comes from a low powered computer and small memory graphic card combo.
Have had success in getting around this by using "print image" option.
If you start charging $2,000 for ALTA Surveys, Adobe sells Acrobat Pro at a deep discount for non-profits. 😉
printing using autocad?
try the built in dwg-to-pdf printer.
I use both Acroplot Matrix & Adobe Reader 10.14 for viewing & printing.
I currently use Bullzip PDF Printer ( http://www.bullzip.com/ ) for printing all of our large format 24"x36" drawings from Carlson and then Adobe Reader for viewing.
I had a similar problem; I changed some text colors and font. When I plotted to PDF, it came out wanky. I think the fix was; don't change the text...
Your problem could also be in your *.ctb file, but I know very little about those types of files. Just enough to be dangerous.
Foxit has a free version. Try it; you will like it. Purchase price is around $130.
Been using Bluebeam Revu for a year now. It does some good things well.
I use Cutepdf....never a problem
Now if only there were a good PDF editor/driver for those of us who prefer running Linux... [SIGH]
The only superior evidence is that which you haven't yet found.

I used to use Bluebeam for paperless plan review. The ability to calibrate the PDF drawing and accurately measure on them made construction pricing take-offs a piece of cake too.
We use Bluebeam Revu. I believe the extreme version if I remember correctly it unlocks all of its features. Zero complaints with it.
But I believe your printing issues are due to your machines performance. Some of our lacking machines will print as if the paper was folded over and smears the print lightly in places.
I have acrobat pro but on the large aerial ortho photos it is not efficient. and it bloated
for those jobs I use ACROPLOT - its a great driver
Take a look at Master PDF Editor. I use it on Ubuntu. It's not free, but it's not ridiculous either.

But, I need to be able to combine multiple pages into one document.

Adobe Acrobat DC $155
I renew it every year.?ÿ I can even use it when I'm away from my computer, as an online service.?ÿ And no, I don't get paid for saying this...( but probably should...)
Like Mr. Rosa, Bullzip prints to any size. Also can save as image file (.jpg, .tiff, etc).

smallpdf.com has a merge function that??ll do what you want. It??s free (which means it may well know what I look like sitting in front of a computer in my skivvies, or what websites I like to visit- but I don??t care), but you??re limited to two merges per hour. Which is enough for my needs...
acroplot is a must have for large orthophotos?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿthe full version of acrobat can't even handle em
PDFill will combine files.
