Lock The Rod Height In Carlson Data Collector?

I'm not an expert on this. I had thought Carlson SurvCE was a software suite, not necessarily a dc, like the Explorer (et al).

@dale-yawn I'm not aware of a direct toggle within the SurvCE/SurvPC software interfaces that will lock the Height of Target during store/measurement operations such as Store Points, Auto-by-Interval, Stake Points, Lines, etc. Within Ver. 6.x of the products is a Rod Height Icon which permits commonly used target heights to be specified and recalled from a user-defined/specified selection list. I will, however, relay your request about locking down the Height of Target input to prevent accidental "fat-fingering."

Thanks, that would be helpful. Bear in mind again that it would be used in a fixed-height rod situation like the GPS rover, but you would want to be able to adjust the rod height for working with a total station. I appreciate your help.

I once fat fingered 8.5 into DC on the PT Number instead of the HR, I made it a good while before realizing my error.

That was back in the Allegro days, I have since played with the idea of using decimal PT numbers for some tasks but have generally gone with apha suffix instead, not on Carlson.

Would be a good option to have and a great example of that customer service if they adopted a suggestion from the forum into their design path.?ÿ

I'm really suprised that the program accepted that input. I've never even heard of anyone using those kinds of point numbers.

You can use decimal point numbers in Leica soft also, among others.

I heard of one company that used multiple i think, to define the heck out of each point yy.mm.dd.fbk.pg. shot# or something crazy like that.

It's an easy enough edit, but only if you know you did it, or use the software to check afterward.?ÿ

My pet peeve, well one of them, is the rods that come with a 1.8m lock also.?ÿ No idea why that's there.?ÿ They just serve to confuse, with some people using 2m others using 1.8m, and some not checking what the HR is before shooting a bunch of shots, thinking that everyone uses whatever HR they do.

Too many options isn't always a good thing.
