Tech Support tells me it could be a compatibility issue with the NVIDIA Quadro K2000 video card. They gave me several workarounds that fixed it for a while and recommended a Geoforce video card. I'm now looking to replace the card and see what happens.
Any luck with changing video cards?
Our graphics cards are GTG. We have the NVIDIA GeForce GTX745. We have no issues with the graphic card while using Carslon w/ACAD or Carslon OEM. Today alone I have had 7 separate crashes caused by who knows what.

I do understand your frustration with crashes. I've been in the same situation with AutoCAD now and in the past. I still get a crash here and there with Map2016 with Carlson Survey. Although rare. We have 2 seats and identical computers. One crashes way more than the other. So it might be more than ICAD. It is tough and troubleshooting takes forever. Good Luck!
Anyone know why you have to set the project data folders every time you open a job? Why does it always revert back to the drawing I had open before? Another thing, has anyone used the Carlson message board to get help? I get 0 response over there. I've learned more on here from Ladd than I have ever gotten over there.

There is, however, one additional consideration:
Autodesk holds the copyright on the RomanS.shx font. Since the ITC cannot (and does not) redistribute this font, IntelliCAD performs a http://www.carlsonsw.com/support/knowledge-base/?action=display_topic&topic_id=602&apos ;">font substitution when it cannot find a font specified in a given text style. Based on this, I suspect one of three things might be happening:
- The RomanS font cannot be found within the Support File Search path of the CAD application (presumed to be IntelliCAD in this case), or,
- The PTXT text style in the aforementioned srvpnoX.dwg file(s) has/have not been updated to utilize the RomanS font, or,
- A PTXT text style has not been created or defined in either the template (*.DWT) drawing and/or active drawing in which a point is being inserted.
In all three cases, it will be up to the user to figure out which solution(s) they'll want to implement. I have, however, updated the http://www.carlsonsw.com/support/knowledge-base/?action=display_topic&topic_id=779&apos ;">Customized Carlson Point Attribute Layouts article to include a collection of https://update.carlsonsw.com/kbase_attach/779/SrvPNo-RomanS.zip&apos ;">attributes that call for the RomanS font.
I hope this information helps.
#2 worked for me. Thanks Ladd. I opened srvpno3.dwg from this path:
C:UsersBradAppDataRoamingCarlson SoftwareCarlson2016ICAD8_X64SUP
Changed the text style for PTXT from txt to romans. I am back in business.

Yes, this also worked for me as well. It's been very helpful. A big thanks to Ladd on that one as well.

I have been looking for a way to select a group of points and have the delta's or bearing, distance, and height difference displayed. I tried several ways. The List command doesn't have a setting for this, which would be nice. I also looked under inverse options to see if there was a multiple inverse option, there isn't. I also tried compare points but this option only compares points having the same point number. I would like to compare a group of points by selecting them from the drawing. Anyone know how to do this? Much obliged.

You probably know already but the 3DIST command gives you that information but only works one point to point at a time.

Yeah Jon, I would like to compare anywhere from 3 points to a couple hundred points.
Are you trying to compare the difference of all points to each other, or from a single point to the other points?
Adam,
Maybe try the cutsheet command under survey.
Create a point group of the points you want to check and then import them in the cutsheet spreadsheet. You can do the same thing with the secondary points or do a check by distance around your first point set.
While you aren't creating a traditional cutsheet, the report should give you the answers you are looking for.

Single point to all other points.

That sounds like a bunch work for simple point deltas of a group, I should be able to simply pick the group, enter the point I want the comparisons made from and get that info. I will try it though, thanks.
Cut sheet is an option. I was thinking radial stake out. But I don't see it in the menu or help. Might call Carlson and talk to them.

That works and will do for what I needed, I still think there should be a quick Inverse to Multiple Points command added. It'd save a lot of steps, just my .02'
Thanks ya'll
Can't you use COGO > Radial Stakeout?

Thanks Sergeant, that is getting close to what I had in mind.:good:

I went to NVIDIA for the latest driver update (previously obtained from DELL) and let the website search program select the proper update. Tech support also sent me a patch/update. Since then (knock wood) I've had almost no problems.
There may also be more info on the Carlson Support Forum.

Can only say that it is amazing and why I didn't get it early.
Only hiccups when I first started was the usb dongle issue as the drivers my dealer gave me were wrong and went merry go around with the dealer until I googled it up.
For the field 2 finish, it was much better than my older software as it allows more customization.
DTM and contouring is easier as when you set your f2f properly, it should automatically detect the breaklines. (Still trying to figure this one out, but carlson support is very responsive, don't be afraid to drop an email)
So far for my work, carlson on intellicad have not crashed on me . However coming from an autocad background, I am still not used to drafting on it. So my workflows goes like this. For processing of data and all, I use carlson and Intellicad. For the finishing touches and clean up I use Vanilla Autocad.
Have fun with Carlson, am amazed by the quality of the product.
Set your Field to Finish setup to draw BOTH 2D and 3D on those codes that represent breaklines (Edge of asphalt, edge of concrete, etc.). To create a surface, insert your point on their z value, Shrinkwrap the points and edit it to dump unwanted shots way out in space. Then turn on the layer that you set up for your breaklines. That is all you need to build your surface. You do not need ANY of your 2D items when building your surface. You may leave any buildings turned on if you are running inclusion/exclusion objects. AND prior to building the surface, don't forget to offset your 3D polys for vertical faces, like curb lines.
