I've always used AutoCAD in the past, most recently AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013. My new employment uses MicroSurvey 2016. For the most part the look and function is pretty similar, except for a few quirks.

One being drawing a line by bearing and distance. In AutoCAD I could start a line and select an option to go a bearing and distance and continue on around. Usually I used it to draw up a deed or check closures.

I have not been able to find this option in MicroSurvey. I've been using the map closure program, which works similarly but its not as simple.

Am I missing something or does MicroSurvey not give the option of simply creating a line by bearing and distance, or even turned angle.

Thanks

Cogo is there. Is that what you mean
Can draw with points or without. (not sure settings for without points)
Is that what you're after?
Type Cogo and enter bearing and distance as prompted.
If re-enter last bearing type ++ same for last distance.
Other fancy options to offset etc too.
There's also a simple routine tucked in there to draw buildings, but that's right angles.
Don't have MsCad here otherwise give more info.
I don't use menus so can't tell you where latter lurks.

This is how I do it. Click/pick on a line and up comes a CAD Lines Computations Box which offers a bunch of options to traverse without establishing coordinates. If you don't have a line, make one and use that.

Sorry you had to wait so long to get an answer. If you have any other questions, pm me and I will try to help.

Dan

MicroSurvey use to have a library of instruction videos for all topics. They were very useful to get acquainted with the program.

I use the Cogo routine with line drawing turned on. That creates Cogo points but I like having Cogo points.

Thanks everyone for getting back to me. I'll give the cogo routine a try, I thought it always made points. Which when doing a deed plot I didn't really want.

I'll take a look at the videos for cogo. I tried searching for line by bearing and distance and came up with the video for the Lot Closure program.

Thanks
