It is with sadness that I am reporting that Larry Phipps has passed. Just saw this on Facebook, no details, but looks like it was from his brain cancer.

He was a great guy... I remember with great fondness a few teleconferences I've had with him, John Stahl and Jeff Lucas several years ago (yes, all at once -- it's not often you get to teleconference with several celebrities at the same time). I ended up chatting with him a few times on the phone after that. He offered great wisdom and advice. He and I also used to pester my wife with "Go Braves" comments on Facebook from time to time. I will miss him. 🙁

Larry taught us to try to collect fees for our services based not on cost but instead on value to the client. ?ÿI will always appreciate him for this leadership. ?ÿSee ya soon friend.

Aww man...My baseball buddy has went and joined the other baseball buddies in that giant field of dreams. He was a wonderful, kind, giving person. Many do not know this, but Larry stood up and helped us many times, in the beginning of our founding of Surveyor Connect. He stood up against the bullies that tried to take us down, both physically, financially, and emotionally. It was a rough road but he kept encouraging us to never give up!?ÿ Of course he would inject his "Go Braves" into our conversations, then giggle when I'd remind him of what team has the most pennants in the National League. We discussed meeting in St. Louis for a Cards Vs. Braves game with his wife and my Wendell. We were suppose to join a cruise with him in the future but then he got that rotten cancer. ??ÿ

RIP my friend. You fought a long, hard battle. A true warrior!!?ÿ ??ÿ
If I am ever in Atlanta, I will attend a Braves game in your honor. If I am in St. Louis, I'll make sure it's for a Cards-Braves game.?ÿ ??ÿ

?ÿ I met Larry once at a MAPS convention several years ago. Ate lunch with him 2 days in a row. Larry and BigE were buddies. Gave us something personal to talk about. Some how I think?ÿLarry and BigE never knew a stranger. Rest in Peace Larry. Tell BigE I miss him.

He came to mind a few weeks ago and I wondered how he was doing. It's been a while since anything was posted concerning how he was doing. I took some CE courses from him and although I had never met him in person we had several enjoyable telephone converations. Sad to hear that he passed away.

Many, many years ago when I was involved in the Bill McComber Mentoring Program, I had some spare funds to purchase survey reference books for the program.?ÿ I contacted Larry to purchase some books and study guides.?ÿ Without seeking any attention, Larry discounted the books and threw in several items as freebies.?ÿ Just one small example of his commitment to educating surveyors.

We last met in 2011, when we were both presenters at the Four Corners Survey Conference in Durango, CO.?ÿ The evening "seminars" with Larry were spirited.?ÿ I will miss him.

I bought several courses and sets of calculator programs from Larry, and he was always an entertaining and honest guy to do business with. I've wondered about how he was doing for many months, and am very saddened to hear the news.?ÿ I wish his family every possible consolation.

Larry specifically requested that everyone perform a deed or deeds of kindness
for someone else, outside of family and outside of your normal routine, and
remember him.

I think about Larry a lot; whenever someone brings up pricing a survey, I remember what he taught us about the VALUE of the survey. It's helped me a lot; when talking to clients or potential clients. They're adding value to their property...

He will be missed!
