I wanted to use GPS data from a PBO station for post processing. It is station GARL in Nevada. But, it appears there is no data since April 17 of this year, missing from both NGS and unavco servers.

However, I just tried connecting to it for real time data, and it connected. It is putting out RTCM3 messages 1004, 1005, 1007, 1019, 1033, and 4094, and is receiving (currently) 7 GPS.

Not real familiar with how unavco is setup, but it seems strange that the station is available for real time but no static data files? Maybe it is only transmitting RTCM data? I guess it would have to send either the data files themselves or Trimble RT27 records in real time in order to store data on a server. Anyone familiar with how the PBO stations are configured?

I dunno John. I do know that PBO (and UNAVCO) stations are configured in several different ways, and some that are NOT in the NGS CORS Network, are linked to various RTNs. Gavin is probably THE GUY to answer these questions.

@gschrock great summary. Agree, can't complain too much for a 'free" resource, but I do find relying on PBO Stations is always a crap shoot. They are set up for long term scientific use and missing a few days or moths in some cases isn't end of world for them. In hindsight I am guessing most RTN operators wished they hadn't relied on that "free" data-stream, even though convenient.
