I don't know if this is good or bad, (and don't give a hoot one way or another) but I have never done 1, 2, 8, 12,13.
I've experienced all of them except 1,4,6,8,11 & 13.
How many of you all have ever been shot with a firearm??ÿ?ÿ
@paden-cash Do blanks count? Hurt like hell btw. From 10' away left a nasty welt and burn.?ÿ
All but 13.
Same list for me, except if I cheated on a test I can't remember doing it.?ÿ
Been shot at while surveying but missed.
1,2, 6, 8 and 13.
Does a BB gun count??ÿ I had a BB in my cheek for over 40 years until I had an MRI.?ÿ When they started the MRI up the BB started moving and they had to stop until I could get it removed.
Andy
Have never 6, 13, 16
I've been shot at, both BB and shotgun, but never hit.
If (deity you pray to) wanted me to fly, I'd have wings.
Never had the urge to try. Grew up with smokers and wasn't my thing. I'm glad now that I never have.
I've shot myself,?ÿ steel ringer plates at 10 yards with a handgun and the bullet bounced back and hit me in the forehead.?ÿ Just a nasty welt and goosebump but now when practicing close in drills I've switched to paper targets.?ÿ?ÿ
1, 6, 8, 13, and 17. Technically not 11, but been to Disneyland many times.
1,4,6,8,13,14.?ÿ Number 3 will remain unanswered.?ÿ I'm not one to kiss and tell.
I've never been shot at. However, ranchers have shot at my dogs, killing one, intentionally missing another.
I came pretty close when I was running a line that a landowner who was a surveyor didn't like who had a reputation of pointing his gun at other surveyors. I left, never saw his gun, but that idiot sure got his license revoked
1. No interest
6.,?ÿ8., 11., 13., 14., 17.
10. I??ve flown the airplane, I??ve instructed student pilots
12. met Gary Busey and Linda Carter in Spring 1982 operating the T-bar at Mammoth Mountain, California?ÿ
15. is Canada another country?
16. smoked a cigar once or twice.
?ÿ
1,6,8,13,16,17, not sure about 17.
?ÿNever 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, 13, 14, 17, nor been shot. I've missed over half of those experiences.
For 16 I recall only about 3 puffs, so almost could count that one.
For 15, just barely - I've only spent 2 and a fraction days out of the USA (in England).
For 12, famous people, at least famous in some circles, quite a few ...
I asked a question of Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia.
I had a meeting and ate lunch with Dr. Irving Reed, co-inventor of the Reed-Solomon error correction code that is used on CD disks.
I talked to James Van Allen, for whom the radiation belts are named.
12/19 I've worked concerts by 850 acts, some of them people you may have heard of, and usually talked a bit with them, ranging from Tom Paxton, Peter Yarrow, to Buckwheat Zydeco, Holmes Brothers, to Maria Muldaur, Melanie, Kathy Matea, the Roche sisters, and Eliza Gilkyson.
Also did sound for Kamala Harris during a campaign stop. Also shook hands with several other national candidates over the years.
1,3,4,6,8,11,13,17?ÿ Had to confess to 16 as I had a brief period during high school when I thought I looked really sharp smoking a cigar.?ÿ Did not claim 17 (cheating on a test) but paid the same price once as those who did.?ÿ I whipped through the Algebra II semester exam quickly then sent my test paper around the room to a half dozen or so buddies?ÿ who didn't have a clue.?ÿ Teacher beat on the others until one confessed about how my paper had been passed around.
As for 3, I will sum it up by simply pointing out it was all her idea, not mine.
As far as meeting someone famous, that depends on one's definition of famous.?ÿ I have met and chewed the fat with several of those nationally recognized as surveying speakers.?ÿ During my Senior year in college I had the President of the University sitting next to me had the head table where I was the emcee for the Annual College of Engineering Awards Banquet, where I also happened to be one of the award recipients.?ÿ His name is now in BIG LETTERS on the university auditorium.?ÿ Spent a couple of hours with the Chairman of the Board of Deere and Company and his son, who was a direct descendant of John Deere.?ÿ Not sure how many university professors, deans and higher officials I have met around the US who now have campus buildings bearing their name.?ÿ Jim Frame has probably driven or walked by Bainer Hall at UC-Davis many times.?ÿ Roy, as he insisted I call him, grew up about an hour down the road from where I did, just 50 years earlier.?ÿ To the best of my knowledge I am not related to his children.?ÿ When I was a little tyke, I sat on the lap of Chill Wills and had a photo taken.?ÿ We didn't even have a TV yet, so I really didn't know who he was, but other people seemed to be all excited about him being at our small town theatre.
1(still waiting for the right artist to be available),13,17
I'll take it, three primes and a possibility to reduce to zero, maybe.
?ÿ
Technically shot myself once too, because you shouldn't use jacketed rounds inside regardless of the trap specs, didn't kill me so I'm stronger I suppose, but then again smell isn't everything either.
?ÿ
Being shot has only been a BB gun, twice.?ÿ Once on the back of my leg, but the blue jeans prevented any penetration.?ÿ The other time was on the palm of my left hand while my right hand index finger was on the trigger.?ÿ I was certain there were no more BBs in the gun.?ÿ That was one time when it REALLY hurt to be wrong.
I did have the firing pin break on a single shot shotgun and it flew up and hit me on the upper edge of my eyebrow.?ÿ A bit lower and it would have been in the eye socket somewhere.?ÿ All I knew immediately was that I thought I had been kicked in the forehead by an invisible mule and I had blood on my hand where I put it against the hurt area.
I've been shot at - but not hit - three times now.
I have a small inkling of what the war veterans mean about bullets "whizzing" as they go past.
And like them, it is a sound I never want to hear again
Don't have a tattoo, been to Disneyworld or cheated on a test.
?ÿ
@jimcox Jim it is good to hear that sound. When you don't hear it, it is bad.
After reading the replies I'm retracting No. 6 Dyed Hair. Only once red. It was Halloween and I was a Hot Dog. Never for vanity purposes because I don't need to and wouldn't if I did. ?????ÿ
Our three man crew was shot at by an adjoiner with a shotgun.?ÿ We were traversing, and the lead man and instrument man were confronted by the adjoiner (I was just in the edge of the woods waiting to give a backsite, so he did not see me).?ÿ As they were in retreat he decide to fire a shot over their heads to hurry them along, and the bird shot rained down on the trees above me.
