Fell asleep this evening watching "crime shows" on some obscure channel.?ÿ Had a horrible dream that I had discovered a child's body in a storm drain while getting depths on the inlets near an apartment complex.?ÿ In my dream I was careful not to touch anything as it was evident the child was deceased.?ÿ A maintenance man at the apartments was with me and we called 911.

After all the authorities arrived a detective came to take my statement.?ÿ I realized the maintenance worker had told the police a lot of incorrect info and I was now a suspect.?ÿ I was terrorized.?ÿ I finally woke up in a cold sweat and it took a few minutes for me to collect reality.

Now I can't get back to sleep.?ÿ I've made a mental note not to fall asleep in front of that damned TV anymore... 😉

Wish I could.  It is extremely rare when I can fall asleep, in the dark, watching TV.  I want to doze off.  It won't happen.

Enjoy those dreams.  The next one might feature Salma Hayek wanting to get to "know" you.

Fall asleep to the wife watching Dateline almost nightly.  It's their bad dreams you have to worry about.  They wake up and you're guilty!

I use the TV to fall asleep.

Shows that I have seen before work best as I can close my eyes and just listen.

Most TVs have sleep timers too. 😉

@paden-cash

I hop in bed at 9pm, read until I drop my nook book reader (usually 9:15 or so), swear, then asleep in 30 seconds, and wake up* at 6am to cook coffee and make a peanut butter and jelly sammich to enjoy on the back porch**.

*does not include getting up 3+ times to pee.

**unless the f'ing sandhill cranes are raising hell about something in the back yard.

I knew a surveyor in Nebraska; he was getting depths on manholes out by Epply Airfield in Omaha. He opened a drain manhole and discovered a skeleton; some Bikers had dumped a woman's body a decade earlier.

It was early afternoon, so he waited until the end of the day to make his call; after he finished working.

I fell asleep watching TV once and woke up to Oral Roberts; I was sure I was going to hell!

Fell asleep this evening watching "crime shows" on some obscure channel.  Had a horrible dream ....

Quite a few years back I quit watching new movies because they were just becoming more and violent, and I realized that I was becoming desensitized to the depicted abhorrent behavior.  As time goes by and I become re-sensitized, I find that there is a lot of TV that I just can't watch.

For the record, I don't mind a good old horse opera and its gunplay.

quit watching new movies

I'm getting slow in my old age, plus substandard eyes, and I can't follow the fast cuts they use in movies these days.

That plus the total unrealism in so many that supposedly depict events that could happen but really couldn't. I'll give them a little license, but every car that crashes or catches fire does NOT explode, for heavens sake. I saw "Gravity" and still haven't figured out what pulled the guy off of her leg after they were at rest with respect to the orbiting ship. He should have been able to hold on with two fingers.

I can believe that the bad guys shots always miss - when there is a drug-related shooting in the news here it's usually a bystander that is hit and not the targeted person, since those shooters never go to a range to practice.

I actually had kind of the reverse happening recently. The danged TV would turn itself on in the middle of the night. Very strange to hear people talking in the living room when you live by yourself. Turns out that the manual controls for the TV are a joystick style on the bottom of the set and I had it standing on the top of the TV stand. The weight of the TV was just enough to push the button now and then and turn it on. It doesn't do that anymore

@ontarget1

I had a soundbar do that in the middle of the night - I was ready to take out the intruder(s) in the living room. It took a minute to understand why they were talking so loudly...

Jim, if it wasn't for the light from the TV I think there might have something by the name of Smith and a friend involved that first time.

I fall asleep to TV every night and it's usually crime tv shows.  Gotta have that background noise to doze off.

I can't tolerate voices as background. You pay attention to them or turn them off. One of my fears is that someday I'll be incapacitated in the hospital and they will turn on the TV at a low level, driving me insane.

What's this? Just replying to Dougie, Doobie, and Radar and this pops up. I will eat SPAM in desperation but I don't share it.

@ontarget1 LOL, that's one way to get your heart pumping!

I have one of those robot sweeper things and it somehow got set to a timed start.  Amazing how fast an old fat guy can levitate out of bed and have a kukri knife in hand before figuring out what is going on.  Better than any caffeinated drink for getting you motivated to start the day!

Paden, you're doing it all wrong. Watch TV shows with girls in bikinis before you fall asleep. The results are much better.

There's nothing more boring than C-SPAN or golf.

@flga-2-2

That is Wendell's new way to punish some of us for keeping the tubes in his set running too warm.  See Support and Bugs Report listings.  The first couple of times it got me it was just *forbidden*

Now that's not a bad idea...

The Food Channel is out of the question because I always wake up with heartburn!
