This is a brand new one to me.?ÿ Is this significant across the country??ÿ I've been surveying for enough decades that I think it is something I should have known by now.?ÿ In my state we fortunately have "right of entry" but had I known or ever seen purple paint, I might be a little more cautious in those areas.

It's a thing in about 10 or so states.?ÿ Not in our state yet, but it sounds like a good way to post your property instead of having to put up the signs that easily get torn down.

The APWA standard for purple paint is non-potable water.?ÿ

?ÿ

My fair city is installing "purple pipe", in parallel with the standard?ÿ waterlines, which carries minimally treated water to supply hydrants and irrigation. The pipe is, in fact, purple.?ÿ?ÿ

FWIW, the fact that APWA does not identify separate colors for sanitary sewer and storm drains has always bothered me.

Purple paint =No hunting on this land without written permission.?ÿ Here, that is.?ÿ Your mileage may vary in a different location.

Make sure you don't resemble a hunter and you should be fine.

Way back in the day when I was a sailor for our fine country, the JP-5 fuel lines running throughout the ship were painted purple.?ÿ Almost everything was haze grey or deck grey but a few important things got color coded like that.?ÿ The JP-5 was helicopter fuel.

According to Bill's list, my state has not jumped on the purple bandwagon yet.?ÿ I know a particular 4 year old that will be crushed.

@james-fleming?ÿ

Blue paint on a tree in rural Mississippi is for marking the timber harvest bounds, not to be confused with the tract boundary.

(d) Bright blue oil base paint.

@notsomuch pretty sure if something is listed these days as "solvent" based it's, for all intents and purposed, oil based.

It is in Missouri, takes the place of your signs torn down. My nightmare neighbor is getting ready to find out what tearing my sign down means real soon. Here trespassing on posted property is a class B misdemeanor that is up to six months in the county jail and a fine of 500.00.

@james-fleming I wholeheartedly agree.?ÿ But that was not the point I was trying to make.?ÿ My point was that solvent-based paint is not readily available in all areas, especially in Colorado which is my home state.?ÿ

?ÿ

A professional painter buddy says he can get all the solvent-based paint he wants in Kansas and Nebraska but that is usually not economical on small jobs....
