My daughter is discovering her artistic talents at the age of 21. We gave her various art supplies for Christmas, including an erasing shield. She had no clue what it was when she pulled it out of her stocking, but once I showed how to use it to clean up pencil drawings, it quickly gained status in her art kit.
How about a Polar Planimeter, a beam compass (to 30"), a proportional divider (11 points), a map measurer (graduated in eighths of an inch), and an Acu-Arc.
I have a crocheted plumb bob and gammon reel that my Mom made for me early in my surveying career. Didn't use it then, don't use it now, but it's super cool.
