Quality land surveyor (2014 October RPLS Exam candidate) looking for work in the San Antonio area. I very capable at both field work and drafting. I have multiple years of experience with both MicroStation and AutoCAD, Trimble and Leica Total Stations/GPS. I have been in the industry since 1992. Licensed in Illinois #3458. I will not do negligent work, sweep bad data under the rug or otherwise assist in producing fraudulent work. Thank you in advance for your interest.
Sort of a hijack, and I wish you the best in your search, but the fact that past experience led you to feel the need to add
>I will not do negligent work, sweep bad data under the rug or otherwise assist in producing fraudulent work
depresses the hell out of me.
Unfortunately, it seems like there are more of the bad ones than the good ones. At least in Illinois I knew who they were. Since I am "the new guy" here in Texas, I have to figure it out the hard way. I will not give up, I know there are good surveyors out there somewhere.
Good luck Scott. I'm with James on the "negligent work" commentary. It's kind of like giving your kid a dollar for getting a C on their report card....duh, I'd make them pay me.
San Antonio is is cool town. Love the river area, not too many places have that golden gift. Not sure about the surveying market, but nothing wrong with scooting from Illinois. I left Mich in my rear view mirror about 11 yrs ago. I may be heading to Austin soon, or back to Grand Rapids where I know people. This zip code sucks.
check out TSPS classified section- there seems to be quite a few companies looking.
feel to email me- I know of one or two to stay away from- its a management thing..
I have been in SA for a long time..
Scott,
we are hiring in SA and most of our other offices too. Please email me if you want more info.

South and West Texas are busy places for Oil and Gas work.

I too left the Grand Rapids area about 6 years ago for Tulsa. Couldn't take the terrible economy any more. Tulsa has been good to me. Plenty if work right now.
