?ÿI haven't seen it myself, but a relative said a friend had this on the gate at the entrance to his farm:

"Anyone one found trespassing on this property at night, will still be here in the morning".

Sign in a store window in a dicey inner-city neighborhood, about 20 years ago:

This place guarded BY SHOTGUN three nights a week.?ÿ You guess which nights.

"Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again".

Someone posted on here a few years ago about how the price of the warning sign was inversely proportional to the danger faced.?ÿ So, the cheaper the sign, the more the danger.?ÿ This was written in response to a picture of a no trespassing sign.?ÿ Someone had hauled an old washing machine and dumped it in the middle of the road and painted "Keep Out" on it.

Around here the washing machine usually somewhere on a side has the foreboding addition of nine closely patterned holes blown through the metal..with at least two or three of the holes?ÿnear the center of the pattern creating a larger hole.?ÿ

This is usually understood in Okie-speak as "malice of forethought". ??ÿ

All that being said, or written in this case, I'd doubt the legality of threatening to harm someone. Certainly down this way if you uttered such words, a police armed offenders callout would be very likely. Although having said that, down here and over this way, I was threatened with death and informed of the apparatus that would be used, which I reported to the police, and the chief's response was "ok, give us a call if he does turn up with said apparatus".

A number of years ago the COE began construction on a water reservoir and dam here in central OK.?ÿ All of the?ÿlands that were to be inundated had been skillfully snatched up by the government but there were a few property owners of adjacent 'higher ground' (proposed access road and park area) properties that were still "holding out".?ÿ I was doing telephone work at the time.

There was one "hold-out"?ÿindividual (I never actually met the man) that had almost barricaded himself on his property.?ÿ His locked gate had been on the local news several times with all the creative "no trespassing" signs.?ÿ And he would?ÿchange the signs regularly.?ÿ It was almost a regular weekly slot on the news.?ÿ Lots of "God, country and freedom" signs along with a plethora of American flags.

One week a string of animal skulls began showing up fixed to his locked gate. The sign read "KEEP OUT - THIS MEANS YOU!"?ÿ As near as I could tell he had a skull from every kind of critter that has ever soiled the grass in this part of the country...arranged in order?ÿfrom small to large.

Then, as if a 'final act before the curtain comes down'...a human skull appeared on his gate.?ÿ I had to drive by and see it for myself. Yep. That's what it was.?ÿ Creepy, for sure.?ÿ Within a day or two the State Troopers and Medical Examiner had to make a "visit" to the site.?ÿ While the occupant remained solidly behind his locked gate the ME and police removed the skull for "evidence".?ÿ

A few days later we all heard the evening news...the skull was plastic.?ÿ Lifelike, and no doubt part of some biology class skeleton, but fake.

The poor old gent was eventually evicted and his property fell to imminent domain.?ÿ I read he was a retired professor from a local university and apparently a successful author.?ÿ I guess he moved on, don't know what ever became of him.?ÿ

Different here in New Zealand/South Pacific, Armed Offenders Squad is armed and in full tactical gear.?ÿ Because police are not routinely armed, normally a stab proof vest, baton, OC spray and perhaps a Taser in higher risk areas.?ÿ In rural areas the weapons, a Glock 17 pistol and a Bushmaster rifle are kept in the back of the police car in a lock box.

Generally only senior police and Diplomatic Protection Service carry side arms.?ÿ

In New Zealand only about 5% of the population are licensed firearm owners, and weapons are controlled.?ÿ No full automatic assualt rifles, or pistols for the public, small capacity magazines only etc.?ÿ

@kotuku4 it is very similar here in Mexico. Permits can be had by first joining a "hunting club" or "gun club" then they obtain permits thru the military. Guns and ammo are also purchased thru the clubs.

Kinda simple... but the vast majority people do not have permits for their firearms.
