I would like to submit to FEMA to have a structure in Zone A removed by LOMA.
What supporting data is usually required with the submittal?
Is it the same documents as an eLOMA?

Also, in the past I have used the FEMA Zone A techniques outlined in their establishing a BFE Zone A. Until, I have been told in seminars and other surveyors that we should just submit the data and let FEMA establish the BFE. So, I this I filled out the EC and left the FBFE blank....

Any input would be helpful.

Thank you,

Your mileage may vary.

Normally there is no significant difference in determining the raw data and filling out the forms. With the exception of the box for BFE. In some areas the local flood plain administrator can supply a number. In other areas there may a source via a State level agency related to flooding that can be contacted for a number. Sometimes you can leave the BFE blank in hopes FEMA will make a determination for you. You can even put in your best guess for the BFE and let FEMA send you a letter calling you a dummy and telling you precisely what you must do.................or they will take pity on your sorry soul and correct your number to whatever number they like.

I agree....thanks

Our local flood administrators do not provide any technical data, such as a BFE.

Surely the local building official has a required finished floor elevation for new construction. Presumably that will be 1 foot above the community determined BFE.

Also, not sure if it applies to you, but maybe there is a preliminary FIRM intended to replace the existing. While these are still preliminary, the coorisponding FIS could be used as best evidence of a BFE in unnumbered A and V zones. In fact I've read a technical bulletin somewhere that instructs local building officials to do just that.

Great tip, the proposed mapping shows his whole neighborhood removed and in Zone X.

Thanks

You should let FEMA know that...
