woke up this morning, checked email and found this: "please correct your survey to reflect the proper bearings per the previous survey". and this came from a city plat reviewer...
so you have another thing you have to explain over and over again to the layman that is more ennervating?
Let me guess: wrong quadrant!
🙂
Nate
That it's coming from somebody undoubtedly with one eye on this fitting into their GIS- which I guess was built off record bearings from a 1978 survey.
"you guys the 'po po 5-0'? Whatcha yall taken pictures of?"
Heard that a few times on the street and was quickly offered some discount jewelry and a watch and was then asked for some smokes and change.
Simple 2 lot minor plat on 7 acres.
20 feet of relief to well defined stream in rear.
Nearest FEMA 100 year mapped flood zone is 1.5 miles away.
Not my 'favorite' red tape comment, but one of the more recent:
"please calculate the 100 year flood elevation for the 7 acres"
As expected, the elevation was well within the banks of the stream, duh.

that calls and wants Lots 1, 3 and 5 pinned...(thinking he's getting 2 and 4 pinned for free).
True story:
We were painting the office and I had made it out of the paint store with a free yard stick. Mr. "Penny Pincher" stopped by. I gave him the yardstick. He looked at it for a minute and then asked why I gave it to him.
I told him if he'd stop by the Laundromat he could use it to rake quarters out from under the machines..
btw - he kept the yardstick.
My favorite was having my LOMA rejected because we didn't have a recorded deed that shows exactly what the Client owned. We did provide a title report but evidently that was insufficient. It took me no less than 6 months of haggling with FEMA to finally get them to accept the fact that not all property has a single recorded deed describing what they own.
hey! you can't change that bearing! That will move all the boundary lines in the subdivision (from an elected county commissioner)

Along those same lines, we had a guy call our office today and left a voice mail. Said he's buying a property and doesn't want a full survey, just the corners on the left and right side lines marked to build a fence, but doesn't care about the front or back line ...
Now, I can't think of any way to survey the side lines without also determining where the front and back lines are ... especially if it's a rectangle lot. But I get the impression that he thinks half a survey should be half the price...
Probably wait til Jan 2nd to call back and hope he's got another surveyor by then.

> ... half a survey ...
Give him all the northings, but on the same eastings line 😛
