Paden Cash and I were staking two aliquot lines with RTK and Kent was involved somehow with a compass but that part wasn't entirely clear. I was doing it as a favor for a white haired Bakersfield Land Surveyor I knew in my childhood.
Hmmm.... You must be spending too much time here. Maybe it's time to cut you off or limit your time here on Beer Leg....:yum:
What a coincidence, I had a Beer Leg related dream last night too...Salma Hayek, Elizabeth Hurley, and I were in the south of France field verifying pole centering accuracies. Kent was only there in spirit.

Step away from the computer/phone. You are in serious need of a vacation.
STREETS OF BAKERSFIELD
Lyrics
I came here looking for something
I couldn't find anywhere else
Hey, I'm not trying to be nobody
I just want a chance to be myself
I've spent a thousand miles of thumbin'
Yes I've worn blisters on my heels
Trying to find me something better
Here on the streets of Bakersfield
Hey you don't know me, but you don't like me
You say you care less how I feel
But how many of you that sit and judge me
Have ever walked the streets of Bakersfield?
Spent sometime in San Francisco
I spent a night there in the can
They threw this drunk man in my jail cell
I took fifteen dollars from that man
Left him my watch and my old house key
Don't want folks thinkin' that I'd steal
Then I thanked him as I was leaving
And I headed out for Bakersfield
Hey you don't know me, but you don't like me
You say you care less how I feel
But how many of you that sit and judge me
Ever walked the streets of Bakersfield?
Hey you don't know me, but you don't like me
You say you care less how I feel
But how many of you that sit and judge me
Ever walked the streets of Bakersfield?
How many of you that sit and judge me
Ever walked the streets of Bakersfield?

THAT'S IT!
I have dreams, all the time; about Paden and surveying in Oklahoma. Now I know why!

Those are actually called nightmares...

Okay, but what happened when it was time to mark the corner with a good, solid PK Nail and there wasn't a county road nearby to drive it into?

Easy, we use wooden hubs.
BTW Kent, you missed a perfectly good chance on another post to rag on Oklahoma but opted out to pick on Arkansas instead. My feelings are hurt. Do we need to talk? 😉

I'm happy Kent acknowledges Arkansas' existence...

Well, I'll grant you that Oklahoma is always an entertaining challenge. So much of the Arkansas material writes itself that there really isn't much for the humorist to improve upon. Mark Twain had it right.
We were just driving laths on line. Don't ask me what the 2 sigma error of the onlinenedness of the laths was.
Are you sure those weren't lathes? A lot of people report setting those.
Imagine how much a bundle of lathes weighs.
10,500lb, on the bright side fewer would be pulled up.
Weird dreams. This reminded me of a thread on the old RPLS site that some of you old timers might remember - where Shawn Billings was trying to figure out how to assemble an EDM while on a deserted island (likely in the South Pacific). That started me on my own dream about being on a deserted island with Susan Sarandon trying to build an EDM out of cocoanut shells, palm fronds, and sand dollars. Yeah that is weird. What would I be trying to measure?
FYI that was circa June 2001.
