@rj-schneider?ÿ

They don't expire but don't loose your card after five years.?ÿ They won't replace it without you taking the class again.

It is recommended that you get a replacement card prior to 5 years even if you don't loose it.

I wouldn't expect a packed house unless paychecks are involved. ?????ÿ

Sign contract on Wednesday

Preconstruction & safety meeting on Thursday.?ÿ Informed all onsite staff has to have OSHA 10 within the last 18 months, all staff on site has to have a drug test within 72 hours, still don't have CAD files or PDF of approved plans, site specific PPE required, etc.

Then they ask, can you start Friday?

What does the ability to pass a drug test have to do with being a good employee??ÿ If I burn a bowl on Friday night, what effect does that have on my ability to work on Monday or the next couple of Mondays.?ÿ Current testing for subsentences other than alcohol show hot or not and do not give an indication of impairment.?ÿ I have had straight up alcoholics work for me that could pass a test, they just had to stop drinking for a couple of hours.?ÿ The whole random drug testing thing is just a witch hunt.?ÿ If you show signs of intoxication or are involved in an accident, then they are warranted to determine if you were in fact under the influence.

In a former life I worked for a boutique intelligence agency.?ÿ The policy was that we pissed the first time we walked in the door.?ÿ After that it was limited to after accidents or a 30-day notice.?ÿ The thought there was that if you could not clean up with a 30 day notice you were a security risk and out the door.?ÿ When I had employees, that was the route I went with.

@john-putnam

I think it mostly comes down to an insurance concern.?ÿ If one of your guys is showing a substance I think it might not even matter if they were actually impaired at the time your insurance will say we're not paying.

The only time I really remember seeing the testing have an effect was when I was working on a coal power plant project.?ÿ The GC announced a random test for right after lunch.?ÿ A bunch of laborers left for lunch and probably half of them stayed gone.

@john-putnam I think it comes down to politics driven by the ƒ??war on drugs.ƒ? I doubt testing has any impact on safety.

Perhaps....but I'm slowly coming to the realization that I'm the grumpy man.
