Carefully clean perimeter of screen, in the little groove. It have obstruction device, in the form of grit, leaves, or other crud.

What is your native language?

I just went through this last week. I carefully cleaned the crud from under the lip and it began to function properly again.

The TCS3 just came out and several dealers are stuck with TCS2's in their inventory. I bet you could make a good deal on a new one.

TSC2 ( Trimble Data Collector ) Touch screen

Sometimes the simplest solution is the correct one:

"[Fn] + Trimble Key" enables/disables the touchscreen on the TSC2.

Failing that, try a soft reset:

Hold down the Power key for approximately five seconds and the reset message appears. Continue holding the Power key for another five seconds to initiate a soft reset.

Failing that, try using a moistened toothbrush and clean around the edge of the screen area. The touchscreen can malfunction if there is a build up of dust and grit under the bezel.

Failing that, I'd send it in for service and use a loaner in the interim if one is available.

If you have a PVC Screen Protector installed, then the vast differences in temperatures these last couple of weeks have caused the screen protector to expand & contract at a rate that will destroy the touch screen... experience is inversely proportional to the amount of equipment destroyed! This applies to any make or model.

You know what. I think this is totally bogus. I had TWO touchscreens go out in a matter of months of each other, on data collectors that are about three years old.

I thought it was an odd coincidence. Now I see you're having the same problem.

I mentioned it to my dealer and they said they hadn't had reports of the same thing happening often.

I'm going to mention this to our Trimble people and see what they have to say.

We had 3 TSC2 touchscreens go out in the past year. We were told by our service rep that they have a "limited amount of touches" for which they were built?
The TSCe had a worthless bluetooth, so we had to buy the TSC2, which was a gift from god until after about 3 years of service when the screens started mysteriously failing. Then what should appear but the brand new latest greatest TSC3. Happiness for the shareholders but misery for the customer. Typical Trimble.

We have 13 TSC2's and the average lifespan of the screens are 2.5 yrs. so far. I had a group of three we purchased at the same time and 2 months out of warranty they all went. I was told it was a bad batch, but no recall was made. I do know leaving one screen side up in the sun, even on the dash, is a killer.

TSC2 ( Trimble Data Collector ) Touch screen

one of our screens has gone dead also - I tried all the suggestions, no luck getting to work. What should I expect the cost to be for screen replacement from my local Trimble dealer?
thanks.

TSC2 ( Trimble Data Collector ) Touch screen

Was told $1500 to repair ours. I've just figured out how to use the keypad to do everything I could do with the touch screen. True I now have an expensive TSC1 but it beats buying a new collector every 3 years.

It's normally the digitizer (touchscreen) that goes out on these things. I replace the screens on TDS Rangers and the Trimble TSC2 at a discount for surveyorconnect.com members, only $250. If you ever have this problem again feel free to shoot me an email at datacollectorrepairs@gmail.com
