We are looking to purchase Trimble products, namely the R10 M2 rover, S7 robotic, S5 robotic, and the TSC7 data collector.?ÿ We are upgrading from GeoMax.?ÿ Does anyone have anything negative to say about the Trimble items listed above, or Trimble in general??ÿ Or positive for that matter?

  1. Get it , you won't regret it. I was a S7 user before upgrading to a SX10. Make sure you get business center aswell for processing data.

You will like the TSC7 at least me and my Boss do. I can do things on it that would have been almost impossible on a TSC3.

We have 2 5800, 3 R8 m3, 1 R10 m1, 2 S6, 5600, SX10 & TX8 and a couple of TSCe, TSC1, TSC2, TSC3, & TSC7.

I really can't say too many bad things.?ÿ I don't care much for the MT1000, except for use exclusively with topo, however we don't use it much anymore with the SX10.

I would suggest looking at the SX10 with a TSC7.?ÿ It runs a good traverse, allows for a relatively quick scan, and has camera features.

Wondering what geomax gear you are currently running including software and why you are wanting to upgrade? Problems with the software? Hardware? Or dealer support lacking?

Issues with establishing (in a timely manner) and maintaining connection.?ÿ General problems overall.?ÿ I believe system was 2G when we got it so we needed an external hotspot for 3G.

@prupal

I'm looking to a new RTS and Geomax Zoom90 is a posibility, so I'm interested in your advises.

Did you encounter problems with yourstation itself? Did you use X-Pad or another software?

Agreed on the Tsc7. Love it when it comes to construction staking! If you are more boundary driven the Tsc3 is probably better for woods and brush..

I switched from a S6 to a S7 and the only difference is the S7 has Minimal scanning capability's as well you lose the track light for a camera, but after a little playing around I can search myself pretty efficiently.

Fortunately I only have R8.3 model GPS so I cant comment on the R10. The R8 models are going obsolete so maybe soon I can hope. R8 models are not compatible with latest constellations Badiou and Galileo?ÿ for a price the may be but with no new parts being made it would be a gamble to invest into them.

I got to see a TSC7 demo once and they thing was so gigantic I almost didn't think it was real.?ÿ But yeah I couldn't imagine using that beast anywhere near shrubs, trees, maybe even tall brush, fence hopping, etc.?ÿ After seeing that I'm expecting to see full-sized desktop PCs glued to rods in a few years...

The R10 outperforms the R8; it uses a different algorithm to resolve the ambiguities and gives you more reliable error estimates than the R8. If you do enough static work you can see the difference there as well; typically when mixing R8-3 data and R10 data in an OPUS Projects network I see tighter numbers with the R10 stations. However, the R10 has been around long enough that I'm starting to wonder what's next.

I love the TSC7; the screen is awesome and as soon as you adapt to the layout the software is easier to use than ever. Our guys like the fact that the map screen is always displayed. The new T7 tablet looks good, if you don't mind not having a physical keypad. I have seven TSC7s in the field on a daily basis, and I have yet to hear even the slightest complaint from the crews that are using them.

Our crews will use the TSC7 for about everything besides simple traverse.?ÿ TSC3's typically are collecting dust.?ÿ Granted crews here never deal with shrubs or bushes.?ÿ They are on pavement nearly exclusively, and the TSC7 doesn't have nearly the scuffs the TSC2s and TSC3s have.?ÿ Maybe they are more careful because it looks show much more expensive.
