On the OPUS page there is an OPTIONS tab that asks for MY PROFILE with 2 options under that and my question is how does one (me) create a profile and what good is it?

IMO...Don't do it!
Unless things have changed, it is generally more trouble than it's worth. As I recall, you "select" your favorite CORS, and OPUS then ALWAYS uses them (even when they are NOT the best choice) to produce a?ÿsolution.
But then again, it's been a LONG time since I went though all of that (and my OPUS Solutions span several States).

I don't do it, but for me it's program dependent, I haven't submitted a file to OPUS through the OPUS page in a long time. If your software has a way to connect to OPUS and submit a file it's way better.
