Was the job created in a 5.* version and then tried to reopen with a 4.* version??ÿ It is not really backwards compatible.?ÿ ?ÿ If the job is corrupted, you can try to open the back up file. Go to open jobs, and have the drop down changed to mjf.bak.?ÿ That will enable you to open the timed back up copy it makes.?ÿ If you have that option configured in it.

Would you know what would cause a corruption of the file?

#1 cause I have seen, is people shutting down the controller, while still in Magnet Field.?ÿ Always exit Magnet Field first, then power it down.?ÿ Just like on a computer, you don't have a file open in Word, and then just switch the power off.

Anyone who puts on the latest release, followed by a .0, should be aware of how buggy that software will be.?ÿ SurvCE 4.01 lists 5 pages of bug fixes upgrading from 4.0.?ÿ I assume the 5 and 6 releases were the same.?ÿ Magnet 5.1 is now out for field, no release notes on what is fixed mind you, until they release 5.1 Office.

5.0 was a nightmare. H and V values when measuring in rtk were wrong, always out of tolerance but the actual values were ok. The problem was that you couldn't calculate a free station. Installed 5.1 and this is solved.

With such a bold statement, you clearly did not give it a chance or did NOT have proper training.

I don't see how my preference for Carlson, Leica, Survey Pro, over Magnet can be debatable.?ÿ Is my opinion wrong?

Very obvious that Leica Software will operate best on Leica hardware and same for all vendors.

Yes, I had closed the controller without closing MF first.

After a restart and opening MF I got the message you've mentioned: I've deleted the related non-MJF extention files and tried opening the MJF file again: that worked well.

Somehow the DB is locked when using it, therefore stays locked when you shut the controller without shutting MF first.

Recently had a corrupted MJF file which could not be opened due to a "Grid to Ground data not found" error with no way to retrieve the data.

Had a nosy in the MJF structure and found it has a SQLite3 structure so I've written a SQLite3 VB6.0 program to retrieve all points from any .MJF DB file to launch them on the Windows clipboard and create a CSV file so you can import them in a new MJF project.

There is a truckload of variety of data (GPS, TS, equipment used, Raw data, etc, etc) in that MJF DB file that is interesting in case you wish to analyse your data outside the MF space and software line.
