What are you using to convert the new file format from .job to .survey back and forth? We have an old version of Foresite but we have to convert everything in the data collector before we download.

We use the data collector also. I hope someone knows about this. It was a surprise to me the frist time I downloaded files.

Have you tried the Spectra Precision Survey Office software? I think that is Foresights replacement.

Yes, Export as a .job file and the .raw comes out with the export. Download which ever you want to use in Foresight. I think if you upload a .job file, the DC it will convert to .survey before it opens the job.

Yeah...pretty much.

There are some differences, but if you can run TBC, you can run SPSO.

I really like that...makes it much easier for me!

B-)

My first post on this here veyin' forum.

And of course I'm going to complain about Survey Pro 5. Not a big fan of the upgrade and searching for a few work-arounds. Unfortunately, Survey Pro 4.11--the last version maintaining the separation of coordinates and raw data--will not communicate with Trimble's R6 glonass receivers. And of course, as these things go, we've purchased a few R6s. (And I DO appreciate having an average of 12 space vehicles singing to me...) But I do NOT appreciate sending the crews out with an updated coordinate list that will come right back to me in the RAW data. Time was, in version 4.11, those uploaded coords were kept SEPARATE from the raw data via the JOB file. Now I'm left to delete a bunch of redundant coordinates from the raw or tread cautiously when I import the new data.

Unless somebody's got a work around to keep uploaded coordinates out of the raw file? Maybe? Thanks.

I can't even begin writing in this forum about the problems I have encountered in ALL versions of SP since the buy-out....(It would fill a book of many pages writing the "bug reports"

Let me attempt to qualify my statement and outrage regarding SP.....
1) I have been using SP for short of 10 years now and I feel I have quite mastered the program on several types of DC's and Instruments.
2) During the recession of the 90's (in California) I worked as a Quality Assurance/Technical Support/Technical Writer for a software developer of four (4) production applications on both, Macintosh and Windows platforms.

That been said......And though I don't mean to be harsh..after all, SP is being used by Professional Land Surveyors and we rely on professional grade and quality software that is consistent AND reliable to the many ways we survey.

Here's something I wrote to another posting regarding keyboard shortcuts.

(however, SP 4.11 or greater because some genius has broken more functions of the Survey Pro software than enhancements...Keyboard shortcuts is one them... If it were up to me, I would FIRE them all and have that software fixed by someone who knows what they're doing. I'll leave that "rant" for another time)
