We bought a Leica TS 06 last December with a Spectra Precision Ranger Collector running Survey Pro. They hooked up via Bluetooth and ran all year with no problems. Bought 2 new Spectra Precision data collectors this December and a new Leica TS06 and TS09 and tried to pair them up today. NO luck.

Cable works, but the bluetooth keeps asking for a passkey. Spectra Precision says they don't support Leica FlexLine instruments. So I buy about $30,000 worth of equipment and nobody can get them to work together.

Anybody out there have any ideas, or are we done buying TDS-Trimble-SpectraPrecision data collectors. We went to TDS about 8 years ago to keep our various Leica instruments running with one common software. I guess that was a bad idea.

Thanks for any help.
Kurt

I agree with Peter. Either Carlson or the new Leica data collector.

The leica collector would be first choice.

Sometimes a default passkey is 0000 or 0123. Hope this helps.

What does your dealer have to say?

if the cable works, it seems the bluetooth should work. Try the default passcodes or if that doesn't work look around on the instrument menus and see if you can find it in there.

The other thing is you may need to switch the instrument from cable to bluetooth. I have to do that with the Leica 1200 series if I want to use a bluetooth collector. It is set to cable so bluetooth won't work unless I switch the instrument over.

I think Dave is onto something here. It could just be a setting. Look under the comm menu on the total station as well.

Thanks all - Yes tried 0000, 1234 and did change the passkey within the settings on the instrument with no luck. I can see the gun, the gun asks for permission and when I reply yes the passkey pops up again on the data collector. It's just Bluetooth, it shouldn't be that difficult.

Spectra is no help, the dealer has had no luck with anybody at Leica. I have ordered the leica data collector to replace an Allegro with Carlson that runs our 1201 robot. I have been unhappy with the software, support and data collector from Carlson. I have avoided Leica's data collector due to the software and trying to stay consistent with 8 instruments and different operator's.

I know that the leica data collector will physically work better. Time to start moving toward Leica's data collector and hope for the best.

"Spectra is no help..."
Have you contacted Spectra Precision Support?
Or talked to SP's western sales rep?
Look him up on their website...

It could be that they no longer have the drivers to support Leica instruments...
I do not know.

I would start at the "Top" of Leica's (Hexagon) management and let them know what is going on. I suspect this is the repercussions of both Trimble's & Leica's acquisitions of most local dealerships. When merges happen, often custom care suffers... if only the CEO's would realize that this affects their bottom line instead of their "golden" parachute!

Blue tooth pass keys:
1111 or 1234 or 0123
if one of these doesn't work then you are out of luck.
These are the default pass keys for almost every BT used in our industry.

For what is worth, check the Survey Pro version on the DC that works and then Check the version of your new Survey Pro. You might be able to go back to a previous version that does support the Leica line.
PSS man.

Thanks,

All codes which were tried and tried changing the instrument. Aggravating to say the least.

Going to a previous version will be tried soon. As will moving over to Leica data collectors down the road.

Thanks all

So by troubleshooting the instruments myself. I was able to take the data collectors back to Spectra Survey Pro 9.7.2 from 10.1 and get them to all work with last year's TS06.

Now what changed on the instruments? Leica went from firmware version 1.2 to 2.?. I was able to get my rep to get the version 1.2 downgrade. The tech's weren't happy, but now I have data collector's that work with instruments.

It's always fun doing the troubleshooting from the people you purchase products from!
