Guess which house gave me a call today asking for an estimate...
I'll tell you straight out... it was 1507.
Ahhh... The joys of surveying. I don't know why this is so far off, our county is usually much better than this. I've done some work near there, behind the house, so I know it's not really where the lines are plotted.
This is definitely the time of year to do it, before the trees bud.
Did you ever get your plotter dilemma solved?
> This is definitely the time of year to do it, before the trees bud.
No doubt. I kinda hope they call back.
> Did you ever get your plotter dilemma solved?
I did. I discovered that pdf995 had the perfect ANSI C size that I need. I'll be putting it on a thumb drive and taking it to the print shop tomorrow for both paper and mylar copies. Let's hope it works well.
Rubbersheet Strikes Again
That's a GIStastic picture. Hope you get the job.
Amazing. Either unadjusted photo distortion or no one at the County GIS has heard if the rubber sheet button.
Hope you get the job to find the right locations for the bozos to throw barbs or money at.
Well just looking at the curve in the street before the bulb, and how the GIS lines show the street, there is going to be some differences there for sure. Whether it's as bad as shown, I doubt it. I'll bet the house is clear of the PL, but by how much should be interesting.
That looks like most of the GIS property lines I've seen; in fact, I just started one today where the GIS is about 150' off and finishing one from last week that's about 100' off.

Carl:
Make sure you print off several copies of the county's map to hand out to the neighbors. The neighbor whose house is in the middle of the culdesac might give you some work.
You could approach the neighbors with the statement "Not that the county is always right, but it surrrrre looks like you've got yourself one BIG problem. The gall to make you pay taxes, when low and behold your house is in the public street!"
What is giving the surface the striation appearance? It's like looking at shadows in a nearly-dark room. One can imagination anything.
Something your not familiar with Holy,,
those are trees. the deciduous kind without their leaves.

But the computer says it's there. If it's on the computer system, it's gotta be correct, right? Aren't GIS computers correct all the time?
Isn't that pronounced ...

Probable words from the guy who owns the biggest house in the picture:
"You want HOW much to survey my lot?? My Realtor says it should cost only $200 for a top-of-the-line survey!"

Well, they were price shopping a bit, because they were totally knowledgeable about the whole process. I'll not undersell my services, I'll explain what needs to be done. The woman I spoke with was quite curious about what was involved, but seemed impressed/satisfied with the answers that I gave to her.
Time will tell (whether or not she calls).

ha ha, I keep thinking about that thread with the GIS guys discussing 0.013 misclosers (or 0.003 was mentioned once). I wonder why they don't worry about things like houses being plotted in the middle of cul-de-sacs.
