Police searching for driver who killed land surveyor & fled

Houston Land Surveyor victim of Hit and Run, died.

Sometimes I think we could get together and make our own fund for helping families, of surveyors. Maybe our own retirement fund.

Safety is always #1. I hate to hear about things like this. My thoughts are with the family and co-workers.

Por aquí los ilegales se ejecutarán a través de los conos de seguridad y un aspecto muy confundido acerca de qué hacer, ya que correr a través de la zona de trabajo. Mantenga la cabeza en una pieza giratoria.

Has the local chapter of TSPS, or anyone else for that matter, set up an account for donations to help this man's family with the funeral & unexpected expenses?

Not sure if you heard but one of our field surveyors was hit by a car at a job site and killed yesterday afternoon. Not sure if we should send out a chapter email or not... His name is Zack Devane, his father is Ben Devane and has been at BGE for 18years and was on his crew when it happened. Would appreciate prayers, thoughts etc for our department and Zacks family. This is a huge loss and I'm imagining that this will be a hard next few weeks for our guys and for Ben and his family.

We at Brown & Gay Engineers are heartbroken by the loss of our co-worker and friend, Zach Devane. He was a field surveyor in our Houston office and a respected member of our business family. His life was cut short by a tragic accident that occurred on the afternoon of November 6, 2014. He will be deeply missed and long remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

The NSPS Foundation has such a fund. They will also help surveyors that are effected by natural disaster and fire.

I worked in Florida for 11 years. Saw lots of snakes but never heard of a surveyor being snake bit. Did know of two that were hit by cars. One died the other survived.

Police searching for driver who killed land surveyor & fled

Thanks Steve. I am designing a piece of surveying equipment. I have ordered the 1st 10 of them. Should be available in about 6 wks. I am thinking of what to do with the money. I am not rich, but this sort of thing is important.
I'll post when the 1st 10 are ready.

Read the article, watched the vid. Hardest thing to see was the bent rangepole sticking out from under the car...

Be safe, everyone, and keep your head on a swivel.

Karma, no doubt. Delivered by the "Great Chief of Surveys".

There is a harmony in the orbs once again.
