Oregon surveyor John Minor was in South Texas today helping me search along about three miles of an old County Road for the key evidence to be used in determining the location of the road as originally established in the early 20th century. As I understand it, Oregon doesn't look much like South Texas and the barbecue is better here.

Hey, yow! I rekanize that feller.
The barbecue would have to be better, wouldn't it? I mean, what kind of flavor would you get from a bison brisket smoked with Douglas Fir?

Yes, I learned that virtually no mesquite grows in Oregon. :>
I see large Mesquites, a Live Oak and a large Opuntia...must be south of San Antonio.

Haven't you ever had Alder smoked Salmon....;-)
Kent-
Those funny greasy field books he uses are "Rite-in-Rain" field books, just in case you were wondering.

And for Gawd's sakes dunk him in a 55 gallon drum of sunscreen.
That reddish color to his skin isn't tan - it's rust! 😛
Looks like John is shopping for floral arrangements to take to Tom Doniphon’s funeral in Shinbone.

B-) :good:
Very cool thread & love your new avatar DK.
Welcome to TEXAS
Great capture of central Texas scenery.
Later in the year you would have experienced possible witness to rattle snake, horned toad, striped racer, blue racer, mockingbird flirtation and an atmosphere akin to standing on the sun.
Come back soon.
😀
I'm sure you all had a great time,
thanks for sharing,
Chr.
I recognize that beer drinker!!! B-) Nice Cacti too!! :-$

One of the topics that came up, Christ, was what an excellent contribution you had made with the effort you've put into the RinexDates software. There was complete agreement on that point.
Well I owe a big thank you to Kent for showing me how it is done in Central Texas. I just got home last night. We didn't get up to Lockhart to try the BBQ but intended to try Lulling. Unfortunately, all the BBQ was closed for the night at 6pm about half an hour before we got there. Kent took me to a very tasty BBQ in Pleasanton but I don't recall the name. I discovered Shiner beer. I highly suggest Shiner Black. Shiner Bock was good too.
Somebody posted that I should visit Moody Gardens in Galveston. We started our trip there and was very impressed. The weather was pretty good for the whole trip. Never got overly hot and rain only occurred at night.
Texas has a lot to offer and with people like Kent living there you can't go wrong!
