I got a chuckle out of this note I found on a survey plat I'm retracing. I've had occasion to write a similar note before, but I've tried to find a more delicate way to describe what I saw. (scrap metal, concrete rubble, etc.) But how do you note it when it's really, well, just junk?
Once upon a time on a route survey I referred to a specific area as being a hog wallow. That caught the eye of several others involved in the project. Those who made it to the site agreed fully that was the most appropriate description for what was present.
I was reviewing some old (1950's) field books concerning a small city that was one of our clients. This book was of a survey for water lines and showed structures and their usage, One was a "Colored Juke Joint". Politically incorrect but probably accurate.

Labeling could be better. Why did he set two rebar ant/near the NW corner, and why is the NE monument not set on the line labeled "Property Line"? Is he monumenting a 1/16 corner AND a property line that doesn't follow the aliquot?

The deed for the SW tract just says 268' x 457', and does not call for the adjoining senior tract to the north like it probably should. I don't think a strip tapering from 14' to 7' was intended, but he just staked the deed. But he held the west fence for the 1/16th line even though it's about 20 feet too far west.
One man's junk...
...is another man's johnson.
I was tracking down section corners in rural area and walked into a clearing of several acres. There were rows of neatly piled construction debris, household items, appliances, junk cars and all manner of other trash and junk. As I navigated my way through the mess, an old lady came flying up in a truck. She was clearly agitated I was there. I explained what I was doing and calmed her down. She was upset because she thought people had been sneaking onto her property and stealing her "materials". Now, anytime I see a pile of junk or garbage I jokingly refer to it as "materials".

I stopped one day at a "Huge Yard Sale" and below that was written "Hoarders Sale".
Most of it should have been thrown away 20 years ago.
