Today it was a small allen wrench. The long side is maybe a bit longer than two inches.
Where I found it is THE REST OF THE STORY.
It was inside my right rear tire on the survey chariot.
Drove about 20 miles to get from site A to site B. As I pull to a stop, a worker comes over to tell me my tire is nearly flat. Before leaving the site, the worker brought over an air bubble and made the tire round again. Took off like a cat with firecrackers tied to its tail. Made it to the tire repair shop but couldn't have gone much further. That was the only good part of the deal. Anybody want to buy a used allen wrench for $19.
This will be interesting. Maybe we should wait for the new site for this thread.
I need a 3/32" allen wrench to adjust my pole vials - mine literally disappeared down a crack in the floor, but I won't spend $19. For that kind of money I can get a whole set at Tractor Supply......
It’s crazy we can get a whole set for $19, but just one costs $5.
The tire places around here fix punctures for free.
On the subject of Allen wrenches for adjusting rod bubbles- I recommend the type with a screwdriver like handle. Makes that job easier.
Years ago when when my night job was at the auto parts store a guy came in looking for a T-11 torx bit. I looked it up and there wasn't one listed. I told the guy this and asked what he was needing it for and he was a little ambiguous about answering. He finally flopped his ankle up on the counter and showed me his "ankle bracelet", no doubt court ordered and installed by some law enforcement agency.
I mic'd the tiny hole with our best micrometer and near as I could tell it was way smaller than a T-15 but just a little bigger than a T-10. T-11 or 12 would have been a good guess. I checked all my references and couldn't find anything.
A tool maker could make a tidy sum with a side-hustle if one had the desire. 😉
A long time ago; in a state far far away; we used redheads to stack sights, for convenience. I stacked a redhead in a centerline crack... we heard a car pick it up in their tire; wap wap wap...
Another time; we stacked a lath on a section corner that was about a foot deep, in the middle of a gravel road. didn't think it would last long, so we left it. This was on an election day, Tuesday, and a lady coming back from a victory party saw it; freaked out; ended up in the ditch...
Her lawyer found out who was surveying in the area that day and found us. Never heard anything from the flat tire guy...
dougie
Wassamattayou? Blondes and brunettes can accomplish the same goals as redheads.

When we talk to the other people there...any chance someone saw her drinking?
In 1976? there is little doubt...
That was a long time ago; I think the boss just let the insurance cover it
In the past when this topic arose, I recall a couple of surveyors reporting finding human remains.
Mr. Cow,
What is the "air bubble" you speak of.
Never heard the term. I assume a tank with compressed air.
