Spotted this marker in Sturgis, SD, a couple of weeks ago while at the rally. It was along the north side of an alley at an entrance to a street about where you'd expect a marker to be located.
My guess is that it's a control point that the surveyor did not want people to use as a property line?
Is that your bike? Sheesh! How come you're not in Milwaukee at the 110th?
We have those in California.
They are stamped RCE.....;-)
looks likes overkill for a control point. save the fancy markers for the corners.
We stamp them "JFP" in Wyoming (often w/ a number...JFP-1, JFP-2...)

BUT IT IS A SURVEY MARKER
Just not a boundary marker.

Maybe they were just using it to spit the concrete slab.;-)
I don't get it. What purpose would it serve then?

OOps, I meant SPLIT the concrete slab
At least there aren't a bunch of dimples on it yet. But just cross out the word NOT and see how long it takes.
I have seen a few surveyors around here have their caps stamped "control point" then use them at property corners . I suppose they could argue later that they weren't intended to actually mark the boundary.... it was just a lucky coincidence.
