Any one able to see that a certain aspect of their work load is picking up more than another? For instance site plan work for new house starts for town approvals...or design survey for roads or bridges for county highways...two seperate catagories for sure, but just an idea of my question.

our work is hit or miss right now

some new purchases on existing commercial - warehouses and restaurants

some refi on multifamily residential

and plenty of $350 dollar surveys for fences

not much going on that you can make any real money on but enough to keep the wolves at bay for another few months

I know a few people who have said work is picking up slightly for them. They are sprinkled around the country, so it doesn't seem to be a specific area, from what I can tell.

Most here is for foreclosure short sales, at least something is moving. You would think with 4 fewer firms in the bidding process, prices would be moving upward. Sadly, not so.

We are seeing a consistent increase in work & have been for a prolonged period now- nothing major but an ever increasingly steady workload. More proposals & winning more jobs (without playing the "race to the bottom" game), keeping crews and those in the office consistently busy. It's hopefully the harbinger of things to come for all of us. I've been in this business for 23+ years & have never been through anything this bad- I have learned many valuable lessons in the past 4 years due to the economic downturn & hope that once the economy is back humming along we can all see much more prosperous times.

Chuck

Most of my recent work (topo & as-builts) has been for the older resorts in this area, renovating/updating so they can stay competitive with the newer resorts.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you...
