Unfortunately, I'd suggest waiting until the Lightsquared matter is resolved.

Base your decision on .....

dealer support. All the systems work, but it's who you can call when you need help that matters. Don't buy based on price. Buy based on the dealer and the support he can give.

I agree with Dave Ingram...dealer support is very important. IMO the most important factor.
That being said, if you have experience with GPS, and can do w/o great tech support, you might want to look at the newer Javad Triumph 1 systems. We have quite a few. They work as well (actually better) than other brands I've used- for half the cost. That's just my unbiased opinion, though admittedly I haven't used Leica's new stuff.

Good Luck to you.

I agree with Dave. Support is the key.

Be wary of the Topcon Hiper II ... just came off a job with them and I'm not sold...too many bells and whistles.. even lame robotic voice status updates like "Bluetooth is connectecd" or "Receiver is shutting Down". It's not even a sexy female androids voice but more of a Hal 2001 Space Odyssey type...what a jip...
....I hope to test drive the new GR-5 in near future...I'll let ya know..

I wonder how this has affected sales.
I agree it is a bad time to buy.

I'm biased since I've only used Trimble, but I really enjoy Trimble products. The user interface on the controllers is fairly simplistic (both Trimble Access & Survey Controller) and the office software is pretty straight forward. I will say the tutorials and the help option are not the best, but just play with the software for a couple of days and your good.
