Spacing between the pipes on that cattle guard must be wider than any I've ever owned. But, you are correct, it would take a leaping deer to take that station out.

looks to be a ways to the nearest mountain ash. That would get the color right, but the bird would be so drunk it couldn't tell a corner from a goat stake.
