> In the latest move between LightSquared, the US start-up carrier which proposes a national 4G terrestrial mobile broadband network, and those who claim its use of the L1 frequency band will interfere with GPS signals, the Virginia-based company has hit out at GPS receiver makers for ignoring agreed "guard band" limits.

Lightsquared's frequency allocations were intended to utilize space-based transmitters. What don't they understand about that? The FCC waiver is the root cause of the problem and they should have to solve it.
Wanna bet the next position the head of the FCC (or higher up underlings) gets is with Lightsquared? (That's a retorical question.) Actually, that's a pretty safe bet, considering past trends.
You guys that actually think the DoD, national security, precision agriculture, machine control and any other use of the GPS signal will trump getting gubmint subsidized 4G cell phones into the other hand that isn't holding food stamps to the peeps in the Mississippi Delta under the current administration are nuts.
Hey!! I'm the one born and reared in Mississippi and automatically catagorized as "bigoted by birth". Do not be infringeing on my territory!!
Factoid: the "peeps with the cell phones" are NOT all in ther Mississippi Delta. Just last week, either Michagan of Wisconsin deceided that having a cell phone was a "right" and instituted that same free phone plan in that state. You gonna beatch, at least be accurate with it and leave off aimimg all that crap at my state. There's plenty to go around for everyone, including "Damn Yankees". 😉
The GPS industry strikes back -
saying the document cited by LightSquared is in no way whatsoever a design standard for receivers even though LightSquared attempts to misconstrue it as such.
You can read the reply comments responding to this LightSquared assertion from U.S. GPS Industry Council (beginning on the page numbered 16 at top of sheet) and Coalition to Save Our GPS (in footnote 63 on the page numbered 15 at bottom of sheet.)

cptdent,
I agree with you. I just checked out Oregon and there is a $13.50 credit for those on food stamps and SSI.
So add us "rain soaked, tree hugging hippies" to the list.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Typing class 9th grade!
Hey Cpt.
I was born and raised in Jackson MS and now live in Brandon MS. My thoughts on the MS Delta are spot on.
Hey Cpt.
See Dave, I was right, the Mason-Dixon is really on the 31st. You "Damn Yankee".
How is the house?
Hey Cpt.
Then you need to add you location to your ID. Everyone can see where I am from and I work probably only a few blocks from your house.(3.15 miles straight line distance actually!) You cannot be too far from Greenfield Road. Brandon's just not that big.
But my point that the Mississippi Delta is not the only place where this happens is still very valid. Probably are more free phones in Jackson than in all of the Delta anyway. Simple matter of percentages.
We have enough people from outside pushing dirt on us. We do not need to be doing it to ourselves. Factual or not.

House is drying. 4 large fans and 2 large dehumidfiers running for the last 24 hours, hopefully not much longer. No sense in trying to watch TV at "Dad" volume, I feel like I'm on a long flight to Tokyo in a B-24...with the windows open.:-|
Dan
I have to tell you the whole thing sucks, what a mess you are in.
