So last weekend I traveled back home to Kentucky to take the state specific and let the little ones hang out with Grandparents. Took the test Friday at 10 AM, results at 3 PM. Called at 3:15 and found out I passed. I had my license at my house, back home in IL on Weds.

I can't believe how responsive and wonderful KY's board is! Every time you call there:
1. Someone answers the phone
2. They can answer your questions
3. They do whatever is required promptly as to not delay YOU!

Man, I miss Kentucky. Looking forward to working at the Louisville office.

Ryan

I had same experience with them. Took test in morning and called them before I made it back home to WV and got "passed" results before I even made it back to office. Had license within a few days. Nice!

NJ lost my application 4 times, sent my stuff to the wrong address, lost my endorsement forms, gave me the wrong license, also issued me a surveyor in training certificate when I passed the PE exam (I already had my PLS at the time) and caused me to have to wait an extra year for licensure.....maybe they should take a lesson from KY

First of all Congrats!

I am glad to see that some of the states are making progress in how the jurisdictional exam is being graded and the results back to you. I know that when I took the AZ exam, I was asked if I wanted to wait ten minutes for them to grade it. Heck, yea I will wait.

Sure would be nice if more states would offer their jurisdictional exam on more dates (than the April / October dates).

North Carolina is good like that as well. When I took the state exam, I had results back the next week. Easier since they didn't have to send the test to NCEES to grade it. Congrats on passing.

Another board I have always had treat me well is Kansas. In over twenty years I have only had two beefs with them and one was my fault.

I have also been treated well by the New Mexico and Arizona Boards. They follow their rules but help you to also follow them and get things done in a timely manner.
B-)

Congrats Ryan. Your experience is the way things should be everywhere.
Perhaps move somewhere in south-central IL and work out of the Paducah office and you could travel hither and yon between StL and KY and all points in between. Mt. Vernon, IL comes to mind.
Ok, I'm a little biased since I was born around them parts. 😉

Dan, I actually was sitting in the NJ office of the PE/LS board one time when the receptionist took a phone call from another applicant asking about his status. She put him on hold, got up and went two desks away, talked to another worker for some 3 minutes about a TV show, then, came back to her desk and picked up the phone and told the caller that she could not find his application and to call back in a week.
