Just wanted to say hello to everybody on the board and ask a quick question. I am taking the PS exam on the 24th of this month and I feel pretty confident that I am going to do Ok on the test. Just wanted to know if there is anything I might need to concentrate on in these last two weeks. I know I need to look over Public Lands stuff since I live in North Carolina. Any surprises I need to know about etc.

Thanks

hydrology
At least that's what I always heard.

Hook up with Larry Phipps. I'd bet he has a review booklet just waiting for your mailing address. 😉

If its open book I'd say get to know a concise library. The BLM manual and your relevant State Codes would be the core. At this point you may just concentrate on basics of anything you aren't comfortable with.
Good luck, Tom

For the NCEES portion - know the difference between types of evidence, weight of monuments and be prepared to make some decisions.

My mentor told me, "You don't have to memorize everything, just know where to look it up."

I read and reread through all the table of contents. It helped.

Also, no caffeine or alcohol for 2 weeks prior. I was shocked how clear my thinking was after a day or two of no caffeine.

Good Luck!

It's closed book, except for the supplied reference booklet.

Know how to use the provided equations, or memorize your own versions.

Familiarize yourself with the FGDC standards, it's simple to make up testing questions based on these charts.

Look at the practice grammar questions to see how they set them up.

Re-establishing a section based on field data.

I think I only used my calculator a few times.

and of course ALTA/ACSM standards.

Although it has been a few years since my test, I remember that there were a handful of questions from the chapter on Restoration of Lost or Obliterated Corners.

Good luck on the exam and welcome to the forum.

Don't go bananas on the PLSS stuff. Know the basics, I took it the first closed book version and there was very little on it. Being from a colonial state I was stressed about knowing it as well. If you know your stuff you will be fine.

No caffeine. Now that to me is funny! When I sat for the test I brought a four pack of Red Bull and drained the last one just as I finished up. I did feel a bit awkward though as I jittered out the door a couple of hours earlier than everyone else, but I passed and that , to me, was all that mattered. 😀

My approach was to tab and index anything and everything so I could quickly find what I needed.

Good luck!

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

No Alcohol. Now that to me is funny!

I had a wicked hangover the morning I took the two Maryland state specific exams. Had about ten Bass Ales and way to many hot wings at Hooters the night before the exam. Throw in the nerves and stomach was doing somersaults while my hands were shaking when I tried to hold a pencil.

85 on the storm drain exam, 88 on the law...easy peasy. 😉

In Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware (think that covers them all - maybe New York); yes really.
