Leaf Blowers are worse. What was wrong with a rake? It didn't annoy enough people?

I picked the wrong category when posting from the droid....

Yesterday I was looking for 6 pins- 5/8" rebars along the N-S Midsection line, which runs about 2 ft west of the paved shoulder of the co rd. They'd chipped the road last summer, so there were a ton of metal broom tines along the shlder and they were giving me and snoopy a bad time. Turns out the pins were all about 6"-8" below grade,so the return of the pinfinder was pretty similar to the return from the tines. Got-her-did, though.

Actually, it was in the Land Surveying category, but I saw nothing that was surveying in the original post, so I moved it until there was some follow-up to show me where it belongs.

Wendell, you could consider this surveying... ie, he is finding metal broom straws, from a power broom, and getting frustrated, because he is looking for a corner, but "grasping at straws". (My pun)

Pistol grip Schoenstedt which can find a rebar IF you uncover it first. Then it'll sing for you but only then. We borrowed the standard Schoenstedt from the other crew last week and that made all the difference, it can actually find a rebar buried down 2', imagine that!

Dave

That's SAD!

My Sub Surface will find a STAPLE (yeah like in the stapler on your desk) down 1-2 feet (I know because I Dug a bunch of them up a couple of years ago out in Buffalo Valley, where they were used to staple thin aluminum tags on stakes by the Geologists).
