Wow, I am so sorry to hear about your wife. 52 years is an honorable accomplishment and I'm sure it's tough for you right now. As clich?? as this might sound, please let me know if there's anything we can do to help. Seriously. Even if it's just a phone call to chat for awhile.?ÿ
I am sorry to hear the terrible news, but as others have already said...52 years is a long time and I am quite sure there are at least 52000 wonderful memories! Ling term illnesses are tough. I lost my Mother to cancer and that was a whole lot of no fun. However, seeing the struggles end can oddly enough be a relief but never what we want. Stay strong and you are in all of our thoughts.?ÿ
I, too, offer my sincere condolences.?ÿ
While I am not the wordsmith that all who commented before me are, I do agree with all of them in wishing you the best and hope that you can work through this difficult time in the best way possible.
Math Teacher,
I am right down the road from you near Charlotte and wish to express my sincere condolences,?ÿ I am in my 54th year of marriage and know that it would hard if I lost her.
Ed
Sorry for your loss.
Math Teacher,
?ÿ
I lost my wife of only 26 years in 2008.?ÿ It was also a long term illness.?ÿ The passage of time does not erase the memories.?ÿ There are times when I witness a gorgeous sunrise or any number of previously shared events, and I miss tremendously the ability to share them with her.
?ÿ
Life continues, and I am blessed, but that time is forever etched in my being.
?ÿ
Hang in there!
I am sorry for your loss.
Please accept my condolences on your loss.?ÿ Really, I have nothing else to say except the length of time you were married is amazing, and wonderful, and I hope that will assuage some of your grief.?ÿ Stay strong and may God bless you and your family.
Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments. My children have all read them and now know why this place is so special.
Earlier this week, my daughter and I traveled to my home county and today my sons and I repeated that trip. I showed them where I learned to swim, to play basketball, where Beverly and I met and courted, the first school that I taught in and a few other sites. One of those was the drive-in movie where a guy named Larry crashed through the screen on a Saturday night while trying to drive to the next town in 4 minutes. The towns are 9 miles apart and the road was snake-like curvy, so Larry was not only not ready for NASCAR, he was also a very bad math student.
We ended both trips with a visit to the barbecue restaurant where Beverly and I ate many a mid week light snack. We got her favorite from that time, a hamburger with mustard, slaw, and chili. It was a really great trip down memory lane.
Thank you again and bless you for thinking of me.
Sad for your loss, like others have said 52 years is amazing. It's also sad that she would be distanced from friends because of the virus.?ÿ
I??m so sorry for your loss and offer my deepest sympathy. Maybe we??ll play some baseball up your way this summer. If we do, I??ll treat you to a day at the ballpark. ?ÿ
I also forward my condolences for your wife passing but recognize what a great and long relationship you had.?ÿ ?ÿI hope that as time goes on you focus on the many days of happiness you had together.
And yes, there is help on the way, slow as it comes.?ÿ My wife and I both have our first Pfizer vaccine shot scheduled for Friday.?ÿ I have been out in the Alaska bush since December 7, with a good internet connection 80 miles from the grid, in a bubble of one, but needed to come in to the "big city" due to a long streak of bad weather come up all week and not wanting to worry I would miss the appointment.?ÿ I am holing up at home avoiding all creatures.?ÿ?ÿ
Math Teacher, you and your family are in my prayers.?ÿ
We got our first shot today in Charlotte, NC through Novant Health.?ÿ It was very well organized, we were in and out in 40 minutes, including the 15 minutes that they require to wait after the shot.?ÿ There goal for the day was 4,000, they may have accomplished it.
I am posting this incase someone in the Charlotte area that still needs the shot, they are having another clinic next Saturday and the appointment can be booked online.
My wife is a teacher.?ÿ She received her shot at her school on a typical school day.?ÿ Those who walked from their classroom to the room where the vaccinations were giver were allowed to return to their classrooms almost immediately.?ÿ Those who would be driving away (bus drivers, for example) had to wait 20 minutes.
Everyone had to stay for 20 minutes where I received my shot.
