The Texas board now allows digital seals and signatures as long as the below criteria are met:
?ÿ
b) An electronic seal and signature are permitted to be used in lieu of an original seal and signature when the following criteria, and all other requirements of the General Rules of Procedures and Practices, are met:
?ÿ?ÿ(1) It is unique identification of the professional;
?ÿ?ÿ(2) It is verifiable; and
?ÿ?ÿ(3) It is under the professional's direct control.
?ÿ
What methods are you using to meet these requirements? I have a digital signature set up in adobe that meets the criteria, but I can't figure out how to make the seal fit the same criteria, without making it a "signature" in adobe. I don't want to use it as a signature, because it changes the size and scale of the stamp depending on the box you draw. Any advice?
Box in Adobe can be grabbed at one of the corners and drag in or out and resized to fit the space it needs to be in.
The border of your box around your seal or whatever can be deleted also so only the seal will show and print.
One of the states -- I think it's Alaska -- provides a CAD seal template on its Board's website. I created my own years ago and have used it with a scan of my signature ever since, without catching any grief at all.
We use BluebeamRevu that allows you to insert and format custom "stamps" (preliminary, draft, seals).

Brandon,
How are accomplishing the 'verifiable' requirements??ÿ In Oregon and Washington the certificate must be 3rd party verifiable.
Convert your seal to a "PNG" file with a transparent background. You can then overlay anywhere in Adobe and scale it to your liking without it being attached to the signature.?ÿ
Google it and you will find all kinds of info.
John, Adobe has a verification process for signatures that I follow. I works pretty well.
If you are using the self-certify feature then you are not in compliance around here.?ÿ That does not satisfy verifiable part.
Electronic and digital signatures are not the same thing. The Texas rule calls for one then describes elements of the other.
For your own protection go with a reliable 3rd party certificate provider. Make it very clear that the product contains the digital seal and it is void if the embedded certificate is stripped. They are easy to remove.?ÿ
Ive had my seal jacked and its not worth saving 120 a year to cheap out with Adobe...
"Can you use this in CAD as well?"?ÿ
Yes, at least in Auto cad. The seal?ÿ png has to be converted to a dwg or jpg. Not sure which one because I let the staff figger it out, but I'm sure somebody on here knows.?ÿ ??ÿ
