This appears to be a very nice home in the $550,000 range setting on 2 acres, but the existing fencing does not match the tract description.?ÿ It sold most recently less than 6 months ago.?ÿ There really should have been a survey made prior to the sale.

Did a look at your email and found you must be connected to a large engineering firm that mentions engineers and survey techs but not licensed land surveyors.?ÿ How do you survive without at least one in every office of the company?

A man prays that he might win the lottery. Every night, he prays to God, "Please Lord, let me win the lottery tomorrow". Years go by and the man continues to pray. Finally, one night he gets an acknowledgement from God. He says the usual prayer, "Please Lord, let me win the lottery tomorrow". And?ÿ God answers, saying, "Meet me half way on this, and buy a ticket!".

Hardly a comparison...but a speaker I once heard had quipped that "even the sun shines on a dog's butt every now and then".?ÿ?ÿNoting for that to happen some action is required by the dog; the act of standing up.

@lurker trying to help or just be an ass?

I was hoping for a recommendation before Googling a random surveyor.?ÿ The first few I did call from a Google search, the companies either didn't answer or were no longer in business.

Last time I?ÿ will try this site for a surveyor knowing you get no help and just insults.

No wonder you guys suck in business.

I'll probably be sanctioned for the response, but meh...

Your response is an indication of your lack of real respect for what the survey professional career is all about.

A necessary evil that helps you make a living off of the very profession you're lambasting.

?ÿ

There's probably a reason why you're not getting the response from the local surveyor population. Either they're too busy with the current work load, or they've dealt with you in the past.

?ÿ

Either way, I'm sure if you put in the time, and find someone who's willing and available, you'll get your survey eventually.

Remember, this ain't fixing the chip or crack in a windshield in the Walmart Parking lot under an awning crowd....

Good luck!

Gotta agree with the OP.?ÿ Second request merely brings it to the top in case someone else might see it that didn't before.?ÿ Pretty simple request.?ÿ I have in the past answered these from this site in my area.?ÿ Not many led to anything, but was able to recommend someone else as well.?ÿ I know this is sort of more of a chat space but doesn't hurt to try and be helpful if general public pops in.

@thad

Even though it might look like it to someone outside the profession, this forum is not comprised of every single surveyor across the nation/world. And we're not all connected to every offline surveyor.

I think there are 120-140 folks in the geomatics division of my employer, across 5-6 states, and maybe a half dozen of them visit this forum with any frequency.

Further, most of us enjoy this site for the very reason that we can step away from the business side of things and focus on the nuances of our profession with folks who will understand what we're talking about. My wife certainly doesn't know, care, or want to talk about updates to the NSRS or riparian boundaries.

The sarcastic responses are mainly because you tried once, didn't get any response, and tried back again expecting a different answer, with the general attitude that you are owed the result you want simply because you asked.

It's also in part because you own a business in an adjacent/related sector, doing work that in some areas could be construed as professional land surveying, yet don't appear to have solicited within your own business network for surveying services. To some on the forum, it's a bit suspicious; to others, it's a possible sign of a troublesome customer. One thing I'm sure all of us licensees have in common is that we've all been treated like retail employees or day laborers rather than professionals, and we really don't care for that.

This is primarily a discussion forum for professionals, rather than a place to drum up business, and we don't speak for all surveyors everywhere. If you don't find someone to do your work on this forum, it doesn't mean you're getting rejected by United Land Surveyors of the Worldƒ?›.

The trying to be helpful response - you indicated that the reason you do not have someone from your company do it is because you do not have someone on staff licensed in Texas.?ÿ Have you asked any of the licensed people in other states if they know someone in Texas to recommend.?ÿ There is a good likelihood that someone knows someone.

No wonder you guys suck in business.

The people in glass houses response - Are you not the same guy who once asked for help with converting some files and then when a board member posted they could help you for a fee you actually complained about a very minimal fee for helping you do something you did not have the capability of doing and were apparently needing for business purposes (if not, I apologize, but I'm pretty sure you were "that" guy).?ÿ If so, I hope you grasp that if/when you do get someone to survey the house for you - they'll probably expect to get paid for their work.

We aren't a "fraternity of rich surveyors".

We are a bunch of fiercely independent hoodlums.

We don't do well socially. I had another surveyor try to rope me into some silly agreement to hide his very deficient survey. It failed. His client lost in court.

And, I've shared huge coordinate files with other surveyors.

It's not that we don't care. It's that we live in another dimension.

We carry troubles that take 30 to 40 years to fester to the surface. Then someone wants a free pass.

It's just not that way.

Nate
