Surveying some telecom sites in Dutch Harbor... here's a http://www.nevadasurveyor.com/dutch_harbor/&apos ;">few photos from the week
always extraordinary images with artistry, finesse, whimsy, etc.. of your slices of life in Alaska.
Again, Were you trying to hear Russia from there?
Oh and your sense and meaning of the "remote" is on point always too.
Thank you once again. Absolutely love the onion church.
BTW, apparently Alaska has it share of insane artists based on the "object" near the saloon.
Awesome photos as always. Such vibrant colors. You absolutely rival Scott Z. A colaboration with you two would most likely overpixilate my computer. 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
My question is 'where are the trees?' in photo 6?
More fantastic photos. Having never been anywhere near Alaska, I had no idea that Dutch Harbor was so developed.

Dutch is pretty developed .... quite expensive as any island tends to be...maybe 2000 year round residents and 4000 seasonal fish factory / fishermen workers ... mostly foreigners

there's three or four in there ... must be the Dutch Harbor National Forest
Absolutely beautiful, but it does look cold...brrr
As always, great photos, but on seeing the first one, and not having scrolled all the way down to the caption, I thought: WOW, they sure make Dutch Harbor look different on Deadliest Catch!
Thanks
Ken
Nice photos but I thought Jack Nicholson stated in "Five Easy Pieces" Alaska was clean and white. I had a friend stationed as a young jeep driver in Dutch Harbor during WWII and he said he though is had the easiest job during the war, driving officers around in the beautiful area......then one morning, all hell broke loose.
Nice photos!

Glad to see your photo journals again!
I have a ton of memories of that place, both surveying and fishing. Looks like you caught a nice break on the weather.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
The pictures are awesome. I have a buddy working on that Shell rig that you photographed. Not sure what day you were there, but he flew back a week ago to get on it and head to Barrow, AK to begin drilling.

Thanks for posting more great photos Daryl.

Very cool, thanks for posting. I grew up in Anchorage and your first picture was just like yesterday
I was just wondering the other day where you were Daryl. Haven't seen anything seen the new site went live. Glad to see you are back and with some awesome pictures. Keep it up cause I'm jealous!
