Turning sets of angles with 5603 and using TDS, when the scope is inverted, I get an error message "unable to take shot". Pressing the retry button, the instrument seem to then take the shot.
Anyone have this problem?
I run a 5603 robot, but use Trimble Controller software in my TSC2. Never had your issue, but my guess is a setting somewhere. Likely in your DC.
I know I periodically have to re-boot the DC & it seems some setting somewhere gets goofed up. Sometimes its the bluetooth, or does something to a survey style, or resets something I don't like. I just go "....aaarrrgghhh...." and figure it out. But it is a PIA. Don't really know the workaround, so I just deal with their crap.
You'd think that now that TDS is married to Trimble, they'd have that stuff sorted.
Good luck
I used to have that problem years ago with TDS and a Leica Instrument. I found changing the settings to read Angle only on reverse shots solved the problem. Angles is what we are after, you can take multiple distance shots in Face 1.
That's right. You can't do distance, only angles with the 5603.
Inverted sights for a Geodimeter 610 / Trimble 5603 will not collect a distance. It can only read angles.
I seem to remember both the 4400 and 610 were the same way.

My 5603 shoots distances in reverse all day long, robotic & manual. I think it may be a software version issue. What version are you running?
Try this:
SETTINGS
REPETITION
Check the box that says "DO NOT SHOOT REVERSE DISTANCES"
I could be wrong, but I think sometime after v 3.?, TDS got the software to do this robotically. They call it the "reverse dip". since the tracking telemetry from the target is below the vertical axis, the scope must "dip" to shoot the prism when reversed. I don't think earlier versions of Survey Pro did this and that is why you have to check the "DO NOT SHOOT REVERSE DISTANCES" box.
I do not remember the version off hand. I am sure it is a later version that 3.
I do have the box checked do not shoot reverse distances. It was working fine.
Phonecall from the shop Its the tracker.
