Does anyone happen to know the rhyme or reason why some USB flash drives are not recognized by some data collectors?

We use the 500x Rangers running Survey Pro and TSC3's running Access.

It seems as though the older/smaller MB drives are more likely to be recognized.

I have a couple 1GB drives that work flawlessly and 1 out of 4 8GB Lexar's that work.

Anyone else struggle with this?

The data collectors may not recognize the newer USB formats.

It is not just USBs but also higher capacity memory cards are not recognized in some older equipment.

Usually happens when the usb is formatted as NTFS or exFAT. Try reformatting to FAT32.

I've noticed that a Usb flash drive will sometimes go unrecognized by the operating system on a TSC3 running access. Close access and retry. Usually does the trick it might work for survey pro too.
